OMA TERRY - age 88 of Wartburg, WALTERS, MARY HAZEL - \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ BARLOW, L. KEITH, JR. - age 69, died Feb. 9, 2004 in Scottsdale, AZ. He was born Oct. 23, 1934 in Norris Tennessee to L. Keith Barlow, Sr. and Anna Grace (Browning) Barlow. Keith was Vice-President of Systems and Reservations for Best Western Hotels International until his retirement. He enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and reading. Keith is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nora Barlow of Dewey, AZ; son, John Barlow of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Dianna Kelly of Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Ed Barlow of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Cale Alan Nichols of Scottsdale, AZ and Rhett Wade Barlow of Grass Valley, CA. Memorial services in honor of Keith will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday Feb. 13, 2004 with a Requim Mass for family and members of All Saints Anglican Church at the church in Prescott, AZ.; and a Celebration of Keith's Life at 1:30 P.M. at Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Walter Crites officiating. The family was assisted by Sunrise Funeral Home and Crematory in Prescott Valley, AZ BRIOTTE, GLADYS PAULINE (CASTLEBERRY) - of Knoxville, Tennessee and Harrison, New York passed away on Monday, January 12, 2004. Gladys was born on January 8, 1919 in Peabody, Tennessee, lived in East Tennessee half of her life and was a former member of Solway United Methodist Church. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio S. Briotte of Harrison New York. Gladys was the devoted mother to daughters Rose Ann Briotte, residing in Knoxville and Mrs. Lois (Henry) Krobetzky residing in Cortlandt Manor, New York. She is also survived by three loving Krobetzky grandchildren: Loralynne, of Schenectady, New York and Debralee and Devon James of Cortlandt Manor, New York. Gladys leaves one brother, Freeman Castleberry of Oak Ridge; two sisters; Ruby Daniels of Knoxville and Betty McClaugherty who resides in Radcliff Kentucky and a niece, Jeanette Cline. She was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters of the Castleberry family formerly of Solway: Gus of Alberque, Hershel of Lafollette; Roy; Karl, Claude; Arlo; Eugene; and Norris all of Knoxville; Howard (who was killed in WWII); and; and sisters Opal Castleberry and Jewel (Castleberry) Sweat. Gladys received recognition of her service as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII at her funeral by the Chaplain of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Harrison, New York. Gladys was a licensed hairdresser and formerly part-owner of Karl's Beauty Salon on Clinch Ave. with her brother in the 1950's. Mrs. Briotte's family received friends and relatives at Harrison Funeral Home, Harrison, New York on January 14-15. Services were held on Friday, January 16 at the funeral home and Harrison Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gordon Bienvenue, pastor of Van Cortlandtville United Methodist Church officiating. She received the customary police escort by her family home in Harrison, New York as a final good bye before interment at the Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, New York beside her Husband who predeceased her in 1997. Honorary Pallbearers from the Orangeburg Fire Department of New York included Gladys' granddaughter a certified NY Firefighter. Written memories from friends and neighbors of Gladys and Tony are welcome by her daughter, Rev. Rose Ann Briotte, Clergy member of the Memphis Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church who lives in Knoxville and works as Chaplain at Lakeshore Mental Health Institute. JOHNSON, JUANITA HUMPHREY age 73 of Clinton, passed away Saturday February 7, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Heiskell. She enjoyed cooking and sewing. Preceded in death by: parents: Alvis and Alice Humphrey, infant son, Mayford Lynn Johnson and son, James Carlos Johnson, brothers: Hubert, Hobert and Ray Humphrey. Survivors: husband of 57 years, James Conrad Johnson, daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Harvey Finch of Clinton; daughter-in-law, Gertie Johnson of Clinton; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren; brother, Gerald Humphrey of Knoxville; sisters-in-law, Imogene Humphrey Hamilton of Clinton, Lorene Humphrey of Powell and Genevieve Humphrey of Fountain City; and many friends; special friends, Dorris Pace and Carolyn Humphrey. OMA TERRY - age 88 of Wartburg, passed away Monday, February 9, 2004 in the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was the daughter of John Wesley Terry and Winnie Crabtree Terry. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother, Maude Terry; husband of 64 years, Ray Maden; granddaughter, Patricia Dyer Milliken; sister, Mildred Dyer and son-in-law, Bernard Dyer. She is survived by three daughters, Margret Dautel and husband, James, Mary Dyer and Winnie Freels and husband, Gary, all of Wartburg; two sons, Rufus Maden and wife, Brenda and Gerald Maden and wife, Betty, also of Wartburg; grandchildren, Michael Dyer and wife, Gina, Mitchell Dyer and wife Glenda, Alan Dyer, Pamela Davis and husband Jeff, Portia Peters and husband Brandon, Connie, Cindy and Regina Maden, Lindsay and Whitney Maden, Gayle Brewer and husband, Lawrence, Laura Goodman and Will, Nicole Freels, Robert Freels and wife Amanda, and Teresa Dautel; fourteen great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, 2 pm in the Wartburg City Cemetery. WALTERS, MARY HAZEL - died Sunday February 8, 2004 at her Knoxville home. She was the wife of the late Thomas Kelly Walters, Jr. She and her family resided ten years in Oak Ridge and later Syracuse, NY and Tulsa, OK before moving to Knoxville. She had a talent for music and in the forties & early fifties, she helped the late Rev. Dr. K.B. Combs (a Baptist moderator) as he established 3-4 churches in Oak Ridge, Calvary Baptist & Central Baptist being two of them. Mrs. Walters was associate teacher and pianist in many churches until Lupus took control. She retired because she said, "a church needs someone they can depend on." She was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and also a "bone- fide" member of St. Matthew's Church in Tulsa (an honor bestowed by the church). She had a "Magnum Cum Lauda" degree in Motherhood bestowed by her children. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: two children, Cheryl Anne Witt and infant son, John Quenton Walters. She is survived by: son & daughter-in-law, Richard & Daphne Walters of Marietta, GA; daughter, Margaret Kelly Norman; daughter & son-in-law, Jennifer and Gary Coburn all of Powell; grandchildren, Brian Coburn, Gregory Norman, Natalie Clabough, & Erin Elizabeth Walters; and one great grandson, Wesley Clabough. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
