Faires, 57, of Chattanooga, formerly of Oak Ridge, Judy Jackson of Oliver Springs \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Marie Ezell Foust, 78, of Heiskell, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. Born April 25, 1925, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of Lee and Mary Baumgardner. She was a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Heiskell. Her family said she loved to garden, fish and make crafts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbra Lou Ezell. Mrs. Foust is survived by her husband, Ray Foust; six daughters, Carolyn Beason and husband, Dennis, Brenda Williams and husband, Burl, Darlene Simmonds and husband, Mike, and Kay Stokes, all of Heiskell, Juanita Davis and husband, Louis, of Sevierville, and Elizabeth Yarber and husband, Dewey, of Clinton; her son, Leon Ezell and wife, Cindy, of Clinton; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Starner and husband, Larry, of Clinton; and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Bill Ellis officiating. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Liberty Baptist Church cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to St. Mary's Residential Hospice, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Catheline Griffin Lide, of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at her home. Born May, 20, 1919, she was the daughter of Walter Joe and Laura Crozier Griffin. She was the second of eight children. Mrs. Lide was a faithful member of Little Leaf Baptist Church, where she took part in various activities including director, pianist and soloist of the senior choir, youth leader with the Red Circle and the Sunshine Band, and an active member of Sunday school. She was an ardent supporter of the Knoxville District Baptist Association and attended many quarterly and annual sessions. According to her family, she served as a district officer and was responsible for many youth and adults having attended there. Her family said she loved good church services, gospel singing and any service she could render to God. According to her family, she was extremely knowledgeable about all flowers, and especially loved the iris. Mrs. Lide continuously advised many people about how to grow flowers and was always willing to give starter plants. Her family said she loved to collect and grow wild flowers, having spent many hours with friends in pursuit of same. Mrs. Lide was an avid reader and her family said she knew many remedies for problems such as how to successfully remove stains in clothing and how to professionally wash silk. According to her family, based on the encouragement and support of Dr. and Mrs. John Gibbons, she completed Knoxville Business College and obtained a job at ORTEC, where she worked for several years. Her family said she appreciated all achievements of children, especially family members. She loved learning the meaning and use of new words, new information, travel and her greatest fascination was the Grand Canyon, her family said. She served as a mentor to family members and many community children and adults, who her family said fondly called her Miss Chop, Auntie Chop, Catheline and Miss Choppie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred Griffin and Marzell Griffin; a sister, Samretta Griffin Fritz; and by the love of her life, Clayton Lide. Mrs. Lide is survived by her brother, Bronce Odell Griffin and wife, Barbara, of Oliver Springs; three sisters, Pauline Woods, Alyce Griffin and Alma Fletcher and husband, Harold, all of Oliver Springs; her faithful stepdaughter, Cherry Ivy and husband, C.S., of Oak Ridge; three sisters-in-law, Inez English, Lessie Bell Brown and Mildred Wilson, all of South Carolina; and by two special sisters, Myrtle Carnegie of Oliver Springs and Myrtle Burum of Clinton. She is also survived by her aunt, Newell Crozier of North Carolina; nine nephews, Dr. Alfred L. Boulware and wife, Dr. Valerie Boulware, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Dr. Raleigh Boulware and wife, Melva, of Columbia, S.C., Gregory Griffin and wife, Mitzi, and Anthony Fritz, all of Oliver Springs, Tyrone Fritz and wife, Lisa, of Portland, Ore., Kenneth O. Fritz of Chattanooga, Adrian Fletcher of Huntsville, Ala., and Joe B. Griffin and wife, Marilyn, and Dr. Tchad Griffin and wife, Suzanne, all of Knoxville; six nieces, Broncine Carter and husband, Stephen, of Laurel, Md., Ronolda Dooley and husband, Robert, of Falls Church, Va., VaNita Rochelle Boston and husband, Harry, of Springfield, Va., Alicia Johnson and husband, Calvin, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Yvette Woods and Elizabeth Fletcher, both of Oliver Springs; two special nieces, Pauletta Fletcher of Oak Ridge and Barbara Frinks and husband, John, of Florence, S.C.; two special cousins, Nannie L. Hopper and Sylvester Hopper, both of Oliver Springs; two special friends, Aurora Knaff and Mildred Harrison; and by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, extended family members and friends. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Little Leaf Baptist Church with Thomas Dews officiating. Burial will follow at Carters Bluff Cemetery in Oliver Springs. Dale Howard Milton, 54, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born Dec. 30, 1949, in Putnam County in Tennessee. Mr. Milton had been employed with Science Applications International Corp., where he was a computer operator. He was preceded in death by his mother, Allene Milton Lewis, and by his stepfather, John Lewis. Mr. Milton is survived by his father and stepmother, Hubert T. and Marilyn Joyce Milton of Oak Ridge; his sister, Judy Theresa Norman, of Nashville; his stepbrother, Anthony Smitherman and wife, Karen, of Knoxville; two nephews, Seth Norman and Jason Norman; three aunts, Lola Eakes of Mount Juliet, and Alberta Cole and Reba Sherrill, both of Cookeville; and by two uncles, Louis Milton and wife, Arlene, of Riverside, Calif., and Hooper Milton and wife, Joan, of Chattanooga. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Ray Buchanan officiating. James Edward Pinion Jr., of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, six days short of his 91st birthday. His early education was at Dalton High School in Dalton, Ga., and Coyne Electrical Institute in Chicago, Ill. After retiring from Hewitt-Robins in Chicago, he moved to Oak Ridge in 1972 to be near his sisters, Goldie Ison and Alice Maxwell. According to his family, he enjoyed senior activities, bowling and square dancing. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. Pinion Sr. and Rosa Pinion; a brother, John Hill Pinion; and by a son-in-law, Michael Towell. Mr. Pinion is survived by his daughter, Marjorie P. Towell of Noblesville, Ind.; his son, Robert A. Pinion and wife, Irene, of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; four grandchildren, Michele T. Howell and husband, Randy, of Evansville, Ind., Kevin Towell of Noblesville, and Christopher Pinion and wife, Lisa, and Peter R. Pinion, all of Rolling Meadows; and by three great-grandchildren. Eddie and Marge McCarter and Curtis and Betty Adkins are considered special friends. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with James D.
