From The Knoxville News Sentinel 19 May 2004 DOUGLAS, JAMES WILLIAM - age 85, of Clinton, HENSON FAYE E (CARSON) - age 73, of Knoxville, IRWIN, JACK C. - age 76, of Clinton, O'BRIEN, ALMA - age 81 of Lake City, DOUGLAS, JAMES WILLIAM - age 85, of Clinton, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at his home. He was born February 27, 1919 in Elk Valley, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Millard & Nancy Douglas. Mr. Douglas was a WWII Veteran serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Clinton Church of Christ and owner of Douglas Coal Sales, Inc. in Clinton. He is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Vera White Douglas; son, James Lee Douglas & wife, Jacque; daughter, Judith Hair & husband, Eddie, all of Oak Ridge; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Douglas of Bozeman, Montana, Cristin Hair-Minge & husband, Joey, of Knoxville, Samantha Hair & Preston Douglas Hair of Oak Ridge; great grandson, Henry Douglas Minge of Knoxville; sisters, Ruby Dyke of Oak Ridge & Shirley Sue Davenport of Jellico, Ky; several nieces, nephews and beloved friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 20, 2004 from 6 to 8 pm at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with funeral services to follow at 8:00 pm in the Chapel with Garry Jones, pastor of Clinton Church of Christ, officiating. HENSON FAYE E (CARSON) - age 73, of Knoxville, died suddenly Monday evening May 17, 2004 at her home. She was born in Jacksboro, TN and lived in Knoxville, for the past 50 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was very out going in life and never meet a person she didn't like. She worked for many years in the restaurant industry and also Sterchi's Furniture Company in her early years. Later she did child care. She was a member of Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Challenger Faithful workers Sunday School Class, the garden circle and a volunteer in crafts and kitchen crew. She was a member of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary, Lt Alexander Bonnyman Det. #924. She played high school basketball, which set her sports mind and became an avid UT football and Lady Vols fan; she loved to read and traveled extensively. Preceded in death by: her parents, Melvin and Maggie Marlow; brother, Ulysses Marlow; 1st husband, Sam J. Carson; and 2nd husband, Bruce Childress. She is survived by: her husband, Max W. Henson; daughters and son-in-law, Jackie (Carson) Dimoulas, Knoxville, Judy Fischer Mathis and John Mathis, Ormond Beach, FL; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Gail Carson, Oak Ridge, Randy and Pam Carson, Gastonia, NC; grandchildren, Eleni, Theodora (Sidas) and Dimitri Dimoulas, Carson Fischer, Kevin and Kimberly Carson, Courtney, Tasha and Joe Carson; great grandson, Jose Sidas; brother, Morris Marlow; sisters and brothers-in law, June and Robert Freeman, Zora and Rusty Knepper, Ann and Dr. Leon Cochran, Mary Smith, Pauline Miller, Louise Mottern and Ruth Marlow; sister-in-law Mary Marlow; one niece and several nephews, step children Paul, Edith, Terry, Butch Childress and Gary Henson; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Ruby Henson. Funeral service will be 7 pm Thursday at Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church Dr. Thomas Sweet officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church Life Center. Family and friend will meet at 9:45 am Friday at Greenwood Cemetery for a 10 am graveside service. IRWIN, JACK C. - age 76, of Clinton, Tennessee passed away Monday, May 17, 2004 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was born July 20, 1927. He was member of Pine Hill Baptist Church. He was 32nd Degree Scottish Rights, Knoxville, Tennessee. He belongs to Andersonville Masonic Lodge. He was a retired boilermaker, Local 453. He was well known mechanic and home builder. He was preceded in death by: daughter, Susie Graves; grandson, Cullen Irwin; parents, Claude & Stella Irwin; daughter- in-law, Pam Irwin; brother, Paul Irwin; sisters, Juanita Thompson, Jeanette Irwin Clanten, June Brock Ridings & Josephine Yarber. Survivors, wife of 56 years, Louise Irwin of Clinton; sons, Chris Irwin & wife, Darlene, of Clinton, Jeff Irwin of Clinton; daughters, Jill Longmire & husband, Robert, of Andersonville, Tina Simpson of Norris; sons-in-law, Gary Graves & Eugene Simpson; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; special friends, Cas McCoy, Leo Warwick and a host of other friends.
