From The Oak Ridger 11 May 2004 Suzanne "Suzie" Dietz, 49, Mattie Elizabeth Freeman, 57, of Cloudland, Ga., Olive A. Laughlin, 87, of Oak Ridge, Bea Grayson, 78, of Oliver Springs, Suzanne "Suzie" Dietz, 49, died Monday, May 10, 2004. Her family said she was a child of God and a member of Seymour United Methodist Church. According to her family, she was a lovely person and will be missed by all who knew her. She was an employee of Bruin Manufacturing Co. for 13 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Wolford, of Bristol. She is survived by her mother, Edna Wolford of LaMarque, Texas; two daughters, Jordan Leigh Garren and husband, Scott, and Taylor Marie Dietz, all of Knoxville; her brother, Herb "Butch" Wolford, of Oak Ridge; her sister, Marla Gibbons, of Texas City, Texas; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; her former husband and friend, Stephen Dietz, of Chattanooga; many friends, including a very devoted friend, Alice Davis and her family, of Knoxville; and by her canine children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004, at 2711 Holbrook Drive in Knoxville with the Rev. Charles Maynard officiating. The family requests any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley, 800 Millwood Road, Knoxville, TN 37920. Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel in Knoxville is in charge of arrangements. Mattie Elizabeth Freeman, 57, of Cloudland, Ga., died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at her daughter's home in Rockwood. Born March 19, 1947, in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of Joseph and Ola Waddell Underwood. She moved to Tennessee in 1948 and resided in Georgia with her husband since 1995. Her family said she treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and was a loving wife and mother. According to her family, she loved gardening and planting her flowers, as well as collecting angels and ceramic cow figurines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Underwood and John Underwood, and by a sister, Betty Qualls. Mrs. Freeman is survived by her husband of 39 years, Kenneth Freeman; four daughters, Debbie Cox and husband, Mack, of Lake City, Missy Brandon and husband, Tommy, of Rockwood and Libby Anderson and Lisa Capps and fiancé, Brandon Hudson, all of Harriman; two sisters, Helen Kasparian and husband, Michael, of Daytona, Fla., and Lois Insinger of Georgia; and by five grandchildren, Leslie Anderson, Kyle Brandon, Alexis Brandon, Emily Capps and Jason Capps. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2004, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Scott Queener, the Rev. Winfred Sluder and the Rev. Michael Dunwoody officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on the Oliver Springs Highway in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Olive A. Laughlin, 87, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at her home. Born March 7, 1917, she was the daughter of Charles E. and Bertha E. Kincade of Wayne County in Iowa. She moved to Oak Ridge in 1990 after the death of her husband, J. Vincent Laughlin. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Vincent G. Laughlin, and by two half brothers, two half sisters and a nephew. Mrs. Laughlin is survived by two daughters, Ramona Halburnt of Oak Ridge and Shirley White and husband, James, of LaVista, Neb.; her son, Kenneth Mullin and wife, Judy, of Mesa, Ariz.; two stepdaughters, Vicki Kelly of Syracuse, Neb., and Mary Vannoy and husband, Don, of Moses Lake, Wash.; her stepdaughter-in-law, Joyce Laughlin, of Cook, Neb.; and by two sisters, Joy McKee of Chariton, Iowa, and Bonnie Bettis of Scottsdale, Ariz. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Laura Paschal and husband, James, of Murfreesboro, Kathleen Scarboro and husband, Jeff, of Nacogdoches, Texas, Lisa Baranishyn and husband, John, of Bellevue, Neb., and Jeffrey White of San Diego, Calif.; two stepgrandsons, Kevin Kelly of Syracuse, Neb., and Craig Jones of Vancouver, Wash.; and by six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Weatherford Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be in the form of contributions to a charity of the donor's choice. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Bea Grayson, 78, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center.
