    2. From The Knoxville News Sentinel 18 May 2004 BROWN, HERBERT SEWELL, JR. age 85, of Oak Ridge, GILLOCK, RUTH McLEMORE HARDIN - MARLOW, MRS. EVELYN - age 79 of LaFollette McDONALD, KASTER ALLEN age 66, of Clinton, BROWN, HERBERT SEWELL, JR. age 85, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, May 16, 2004 at the Methodist Medical Center. He was born March 25, 1919 in South Pittsburg, TN, the son of Herbert Sewell Brown Sr., and Anna Mae Raulston Brown. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving with the US Army. He played minor league baseball and had tried out for the New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed bowling and fishing and was a UT sports fan, especially the Tennessee Vols. Mr. Brown was a very active member of the New York Avenue Church of Christ, where he participated in many of the church's ministries. He was a traditional 'family man' and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems, X-10, where he was a reactor operator. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a sister, Martha Jo Daniel. He is survived by: his wife of 59 years, Janice Marie Johnson Brown; son, Dennis Brown and wife Ladonna of Atlanta; daughters, Nancy K. Hensley; Mary Anne Schutt and husband Bernard, all of Oak Ridge and Elizabeth K. Reddick and husband J. P. of Knoxville; brothers, Robert L. Brown and wife Nellie and Jere Brown and wife Mary Jane, all of South Pittsburg, TN; sister, Rose Phillips of Eastridge, TN; 5 grandchildren, Emily Glisson and husband Scott of Marietta, GA, Jana Brown and Meghan Brown of Atlanta, Ryan Hensley and wife Charyl of Orland, FL and Cameron Reddick of Knoxville; and 4 great grandchildren, Preston Glisson, Tripp Glisson, Briley Glisson and Harper Glisson, all of Marietta, GA. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at 8:00pm at Weatherford Mortuary with David Wallace, Harold Scott and James Lampley officiating. Graveside services are Wednesday at 10:00am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00pm at Weatherford Mortuary. www.weatherfordmortuary.com GILLOCK, RUTH McLEMORE HARDIN - was born in Hardin County Tennessee on December 10, 1905, the daughter of the late Gipson and Della Allison Hardin. Mrs. Gillock was a descendent of Col. Joseph Hardin, one of Hardin County's founders. Mrs. Gillock worked for Tennessee Eastman Corporation - Y12 Plant, Oak Ridge, Tennessee during the war years. She also worked for the Oak Ridge School System. Mrs. Gillock lived in Savannah until 1943 and moved to Oak Ridge, TN. with her husband Edgar Cherry Gillock, where they remained until his death in 1987. In 1996, she moved back to Savannah, TN. Mrs. Gillock was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, TN and attended The First Methodist Church of Savannah, TN. She was also a member of The Eastern Star, the Business and Professional Women's Club, and The Order of the Amaranth. Mrs. Gillock departed this life on May 15, 2004 at The Hardin County Nursing Home at the age of 98 years, 5 months and 5 days. She is survived by: one son, Rev. Edgar Hardin Gillock of Savannah, Tennessee; one daughter, Mary Julia Gillock Hoppe of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; one sister, Maude Cragg of Savannah, Tennessee. Mrs. Gillock was preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Glen Hardin, Jack Hardin and Tom Hardin; two sisters, Edith Shull and Mildred Bowling; one half-sister, Sally Brandon; 3 half- brothers, Charlie Hardin, Will Hardin, and Martin Hardin. Services were held Monday, May 17, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Savannah, with Will Wells and Rev. Ed Gillock officiating. Burial in the Savannah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hardin County Library. MARLOW, MRS. EVELYN - age 79 of LaFollette passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of Lick Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church of God and attended Fincastle Church of God. She was a former employee of LaFollette Medical Center with 14 years of service. She was preceded in death by: husband, Patton Marlow in August 1980; two children, Vietta Marlow and Sue Glandon; her parents, Fred and Teal Naff; two grandchildren, Anthony Young and Darrell Reynolds; and two sisters, Edith Pulley and Thelma Wood. Survivors: daughters, Eunice Bolton and husband, Willard, Patsy Ellis and husband, C. B., and Shirley Reynolds and husband, Lonnie all of LaFollette; grandchildren, Gary, Johnny, Jeffrey, Ronnie, Ricky, Suzette, Loretta, Missy and Michael; great grandchildren, Derek, Justin, Alexa, Ashlee, Kelli, Matthew, Amanda, Bron, Clay, Chris, Lance, D. J., Adam, Jacob, Mitchell, and Zachary; very special aunt, Celeste Barley of Mount Hope, WV.; several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Funeral services Wednesday 1 p.m. at Fincastle Church of God with Rev. Mike Smith, Rev. Audie Murray, and Rev. Hansford Bolton officiating, with special comments by Mrs. Nannie Lou Marlow. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Walters Funeral Home. Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Evelyn Marlow. McDONALD, KASTER ALLEN age 66, of Clinton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 14, 2004 at Windwood HealthCare Center in Clinton. He was preceded in death by: parents, Leo & Toots McDonald; brother, Joe McDonald. Survivors: daughter, Jill Moore & husband, Eddie, of Powell, TN. son, Lucas Hurd & wife, Jennifer of Knoxville, TN. granddaughter, Rachel Nicole Hurd; sister-in- law, Margaret McDonald of Clinton; extended family at Windwood Health Care Center. Funeral service will be Monday, May 17, 2004 at 7:00 pm at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Rev. William McCarter officiating. Memorials may be made to Windwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, c/o Residential Activity Fund, 220 Longmire Road, Clinton, TN.
