Hi Everybody I'm hoping that someone on the list, who lives in or near Morgan County, can help me out with figuring out exactly (or even approximately) where my 3rd great grandfather, Jeremiah Hurst, lived in the county. If someone has located where any of his "neighbors" lived, I might just luck out. On the 1830 census, his "next door neighbors" were listed as William Guffie and Sarah Brown. Next to them were John Young and Joseph Hatfield. The next two heads of household, on either side, were Elijah Buck and John Hood. I know the census enumerators didn't always get everyone in order, but they might have. His first land purchase in Morgan County was on 10 Oct 1822, when he bought ten acres on "East Fork of Clear Fork of Cumberland", from Linsey Brown (Sarah's deceased husband?) for $100.00. I would guess that's where he was living in 1830, but am not certain. I don't know if Jeremiah moved between 1830 and 1840, or if some "new folks" moved in, but he does have some different neighbors. On one side is William Cook, William Guffie (again) and Albert Hurt and on the other is Walter Davis, Solomon Smith and John Smith. By 1850, he may have moved, because none of the "neighbors" are the same. On one side is Pleasant McCart, D. H. Williams and Calvin Daniel and on the other is Nathan Hawn/Haun, Mary Melton and Ancel? Green. If anyone knows where any of these "neighbors" lived, in those time frames, and can tell me, based on current street or road names, I'll look them up on Mapquest. I couldn't make heads or tails of Jeremiah's deeds & sueveys, for grants, which I do have, but I could post or send the details of them, if anyone feels that would help. Thanks in advance for any help provided. Ernie Hurst
