[From Schubert Funeral Home] STEPHENS, MRS. BESSIE TAYLOR, age 96 of Wartburg, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at the Lifecare Center of Morgan County. "Miss Bessie", as she was affectionately called, was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher, Clerk and Treasurer and other areas of responsibilities throughout her lifetime. She taught in the Morgan County School System for 45 years. She was loved and respected by a host of family and friends! She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Stephens; Parents, Rev. Doctor Haywood and Cora Knight Taylor; Sisters, Ida Morgan, Lizzie Redmon, Lucille Webb, and Christine Wattenbarger; Brother, Hijah Taylor and several siblings who died in infancy. She is survived by sister-in-law, Audrey Taylor; Brother-in-law, Henry Wattenbarger; Several nieces and nephews and step-grandson, Lewis Franklin. The family will receive friends Friday, January 23, 2004 from 6-8 pm at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. The funeral service will begin at 8 pm with Rev. Herbert Lee, former pastor of Liberty Baptist Church officiating. A Graveside service will be held on Saturday morning, 11 am in Liberty Cemetery.
