"RED" - age 73, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ DAVIS, CATHERINE LOUISE (GRAY) age 69, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2004 in Englewood, Ohio. She was formerly of Huber Heights, Ohio, retiring in 1987 to LaFollette, TN. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Powell Valley Homemakers. Preceded in death by: her parents, Amos and Mollie Gray; and brother, Clarence Amos Gray (C.A.). She was the loving wife of Thomas Eugene Davis of LaFollette. Loving mother to: Michael Davis (Sandi), Linda Hunt (Steve), Melissa Gilmore (David), Patricia Dammann (Roy), Kathryn Moore (Brian). Loving grandmother to: Kirk, Justin, Cole, Zachary, Taylor, Brianna, Patrick and Alex. Loving sister to: Glenda Musick (Jerry), James Gray (Lovada), Roy Lee Gray (Jane); and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Funeral service 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 21 at Cross Chapel, Rev. Bobby Hatfield officiating. Interment in Beeler Cemetery, Speedwell. The family will receive friends 6 till 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Cross Chapel. Bill was born April 14, 1930 in Brooksville, Florida. He was a Art and Picture framer for 25 years. He was a veteran in the United States Army. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norris. Preceded in death by: parents. Survivors: wife of 35 years, Dot Johnson of Norris; daughter, Eve Johnson of New Port News, VA; sons, William Al Johnson of Chattanooga, George Johnson of Chattanooga; step daughters, Dana Ellis of Birmingham, ALA, Paula McCarthy of Ackron, Ohio; step sons, Martin Ellis of Caryville, Bernie Ellis of Santa Fe, Steve Ellis of Columbus, MISS; several grandchildren and step grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norris at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2004, Father Gerard Finucane officiating. SPEAKS, RUFUS COLBERT (JOE), JR. - 79, of Chattanooga, formerly of Knoxville and Jellico, Tennessee, died at his home, Sunday January 18, 2004. He was a member of First Baptist Church Chattanooga. Mr. Speaks was an Army veteran of the D-Day invasion of Normandy during WWII and a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He was a Certified Public Accountant for most of his working life. He founded the Knoxville Gem and Mineralogical Society and was a past president of the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies. He was a Mason. He was the son of the late Rufus Colbert and Alma Lynch Speaks. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Mitchell Speaks and a brother Elijah (Tubby) Speaks. Mr. Speaks is survived by a brother, David Speaks of San Andreas, California; two daughters, Carol Speaks Proud and her husband, J.R. of Gatlinburg, formerly of Rome, Georgia, and Dr. Kathleen Dianne Speaks of Chattanooga; two grandchildren, LeAnne Proud of San Diego, California and David Proud of Atlanta, Georgia. The family and friends will meet at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday for a 11:30 a.m. graveside and interment service with full military honors presented by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel WILLIS, JAMES H. "RED" - age 73, passed peacefully at 8:46 a.m., January 16, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after a short battle with colon cancer. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a Veteran of U. S. Army Air Core having served in Japan. Preceded in death by: father, Robert H. Willis and mother, Clara Belle Willis; brother, J. C. Willis; and granddaughter, Brandy Lynn Carter. Survivors: wife. Joyce Willis of Clinton; daughters, Sonya & husband, Shawn Franklin, of Oak Ridge; Lynn & husband, Ronnie Carter, of Clinton; son, Eddie & wife, Bobbie Willis, of Clinton; grandchildren, Lee Carter, Cody Franklin and Chloe Willis; sisters, Belle Caulder of Oakland, Ms, Margie & husband, Junior Logan, of South Haven, Ms, Alice Willis of Memphis, Tn., Dianne & husband, Ralph Crafton, of South Haven, Ms.; brothers, Bob & wife, Ellen Willis, of Culpepper, Va.; Richard & wife, Irene Willis, of Grantsville, Dee Willis of Memphis; special aunt, Kathryn Hauthorn of Vicksburg, Ms.; several nieces and nephews.
