MILLER, HELEN PEARSON, Fayetteville, N.C., formerly of Gobey, TN., died Dec. 30, 2003 at her home in Fayetteville. Miller was raised on a farm in the Elizabeth community near Gobey and spent all her teenage years on the farm. Her parents were Harvey and Maggie Pearson. She met and married her husband, Robert, in 1949 and moved to Fayetteville,N.C., where her husband was stationed with the 82nd Airborne Special Forces at Fort Bragg. She was strictly a military wife, often being left behind for long periods of time while her husband served in Vietnam. Her husband was a career military person and served in WW II, Korea and Vietnam. She always managed to understand the reason her husband had to be away. In April 2003 she was diagnosed with cancer. Although she suffered constantly, she never lost her sense of humor or her smile. She was a devout Christian and attended church regularly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Maggie Pearson; husband, Robert V. Miller; brothers, Carson and Reid Sexton; sisters, Hattie Tilson and Johnnie Jones and nephew Elmer Jones. Survivors include son, Mark Miller and wife, Carol of Wilmington, N.C.; daughter Yvonne M. Pierce; grandsons, Alex and Jacob Miller; granddaughters, Marcie and husband Terry Thompson, and Lisa Pierce; sister, Opal Maden of Harriman and a host of nieces and nephews.
