    2. >From The Oak Ridger 20 Jan 2004 John Brock Bittle, 89, of Lake City, William Albert Johnson, 73, of Norris, James H. "Red" Willis, 73, Martin Taylor \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ John Brock Bittle, 89, of Lake City, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004. Born Feb. 18, 1914, making him one month shy of 90 years old when he died, he was the son of W.J. and Rosa Bittle. In his life, he worked at Magnet Mills in Clinton until moving to Oak Ridge to work at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant. He then moved to Lake City to work with his brother, Chris Bittle, at the Corner Drug Store until his brother died. In 1972, Mr. Bittle retired from Ortec. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lake City, where he served as a deacon. According to his family, Mr. Bittle helped raise his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family and friends called him D.D., which his family said he loved to be called. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Mary Chris Lambermont and Tony Bittle; and by four siblings, Chris, James, Mary Ingram and Martha Devaney. Mr. Bittle is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Ellen "Doc" Stair Bittle; his grandson, Brock Rains and wife, Terri; two great-grandsons, David Rains and Christopher Rains; his granddaughter, Leora Wallace and husband, Greg; and by two great-grandchildren, Chrissy Manning and Dusty Manning. Jean Montgomery of Clinton and Ned and Janice Lambermont of Fairhope, Ala., are considered special friends of Mr. Bittle and his wife. A memorial service will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Brian Courtney of Lake City Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Leach Cemetery in Lake City. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Leach Cemetery Grounds Funds, 330 Old Clear Branch Lane, Lake City, TN 37769. William Albert Johnson, 73, of Norris, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born April 14, 1930, in Brooksville, Fla. Mr. Johnson was an art and picture framer for 25 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norris. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dot Johnson; his daughter, Eve Johnson, of New Port News, Va.; two sons, William Al Johnson and George Johnson, both of Chattanooga; two stepdaughters, Dana Ellis of Birmingham, Ala., and Paula McCarthy of Ackron, Ohio; three stepsons, Martin Ellis of Caryville, Bernie Ellis of Santa Fe and Steve Ellis of Columbus, Miss.; and by several grandchildren and stepgrandchildren. A funeral Mass was to be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norris with the Rev. Gerard Finucane officiating. Burial was to follow at Norris Memorial Gardens off the Norris Freeway near Cross Pike Road. The family was to receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements. James H. "Red" Willis, 73, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, after a short battle with colon cancer. He was a Baptist. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in Japan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. Willis and Clara Belle Willis; a brother, J.C. Willis; and by a granddaughter, Brandy Lynn Carter. Mr. Willis is survived by his wife, Joyce Willis, of Clinton; two daughters, Sonya Franklin and husband, Shawn, of Oak Ridge, and Lynn Carter and husband, Ronnie, of Clinton; his son, Eddie Willis and wife, Bobbie, of Clinton; and by three grandchildren, Lee Carter, Cody Franklin and Chloe Willis. He is also survived by four sisters, Belle Caulder of Oakland, Miss., Margie Logan and husband, Junior, and Dianne Crafton and husband, Ralph, all of South Haven, Miss., and Alice Willis of Memphis; three brothers, Bob Willis and wife, Ellen, of Culpepper, Va., Richard Willis and wife, Irene, of Grantsville, Utah, and Dee Willis of Memphis; a special aunt, Kathryn Hauthorn of Vicksburg, Miss.; and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral was Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Tony McAfee officiating. Burial was to be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on the Oliver Springs Highway in Clinton with full military rites by the Campbell County Honor Guard. Martin Taylor, of Brownsville, the son of the Rev. Jim and Pat Taylor of Oak Ridge, died in Brownsville.
