BESSIE TAYLOR - age 96 of Wartburg, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ BUCKNER, DAVID LEE age 60, of Andersonville, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center. David was an employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Loudon Dam. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by: parents, Mildred & Walter Buckner, Sr.; sister, Catherine Blackburn Hall. Survivors: wife, Darlene Wallace Buckner of Andersonville; daughter, Sherri & husband Lee Hamner of Knoxville; sons, Russell & wife Kim Buckner of Andersonville, Steven & wife Jill Buckner of Clinton; grandchildren, David & Nathan Hamner of Knoxville, Ayreona Buckner of Clinton; brother, Walter & wife Susie Buckner of Knoxville; sister, Mildred & husband Jerry Brice of Chattanooga. The family will receive friends 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2004 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services following in the chapel with Rev. Terry Moore officiating. The interment will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Andersonville Cemetery with full military honors at graveside. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton in charge of all arrangements. MARSHALL, JOSEPH BICKNELL, JR. - age 76, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at Baptist Hospital West in Knoxville. He attended New Salem Baptist Church. He retired as a manager at Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph B. & Laura Houston Marshall; first wife, Becky Helton Marshall, daughter, Pamela Jane Thatcher & brother, Harry Marshall. Born June 1, 1927 in Monroe County. Survivors: wife, Bertie Madewell Marshall of Clinton; son, Joseph B. Marshall III & wife Sharon of Bowling Green, KY; daughters, Donna & husband Max Young of Nashville, Laura & husband Greg Verner of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Shannon Peterson & husband Eric, Becky Marshall, Corey & Jared Verner Maxx, Jaclyn & Jake Young, Bradley Clark; step sons, Roger & wife Sandy Madewell of Oliver Springs, Ronnie & wife Rhonda Madewell of Oak Ridge; step grandchildren, Christina & Christopher Madewell, Mike & Kim Higginbotham, Robin & April Moran; sisters, Emma McInturff of Chicago, Ill, Charlotte Pinkston of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers, Robert Marshall & wife Aliene of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Leah Marshall of Vonore, TN; several nieces & nephews. SMITH, DRAMIA M. age 88, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at the Methodist Medical Center. Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge, is handling the arrangements, which are incomplete. STEPHENS, MRS. BESSIE TAYLOR - age 96 of Wartburg, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at the Lifecare Center of Morgan County. "Miss Bessie", as she was affectionately called, was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher, Clerk and Treasurer and other areas of responsibilities throughout her lifetime. She taught in the Morgan County School System for 45 years. She was loved and respected by a host of family and friends! She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Stephens; parents, Rev. Doctor Haywood and Cora Knight Taylor; sisters, Ida Morgan, Lizzie Redmon, Lucille Webb, and Christine Wattenbarger;brother, Hijah Taylor and several siblings who died in infancy. She is survived by sister-in-law, Audrey Taylor; brother-in-law, Henry Wattenbarger; several nieces and nephews and step-grandson, Lewis Franklin. The family will receive friends Friday, January 23, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. The funeral service will begin at 8 p.m. with Rev. Herbert Lee, former pastor of Liberty Baptist Church officiating.
