Born May 24, 1931, in Clay County in Arkansas, he was the son of Fred and Vanburin Tinsley Catiller. Mr. Alford was a member of the Lovell Heights Church of God in Knoxville. He was a R.E.D. machinist at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant and retired Sept. 30, 1994. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran. According to his family, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and white water rafting. Mr. Alford is survived by his wife, Ina Gayle Campbell Alford; two sons, Charles Dunaway and John Alford; two daughters, Karen Bradley and husband, Tom, and Cathy Gillich; and by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Lovell Heights Church of God in Knoxville with the Rev. John Hughes Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with full military rites. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Knox County Rescue Mission, P.O. Moneta Jean Axelrod, 80, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Feb. 19, 1924, in Paris, Ill., she was the daughter of Cecil and Ola Currey Ashmore. Mrs. Axelrod moved to Oak Ridge in 1986 and was an active member of First United Methodist Church. Her family said she benefited greatly from the church's support during her illness. She worked as a bookkeeper in Louisiana and had worked as a beautician and piano teacher in Illinois. According to her family, she enjoyed people, music and her flower garden, and she loved her dog, Sparky. Her family said she was a loving mother and wife. Mrs. Axelrod is survived by her second husband of five years, Daniel Axelrod; her son, David Christen, a physicist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and wife, Sandra, a math teacher at Oak Ridge High School; and by her son, Darryl Christen, an attorney, and wife, Mona, a realtor, of Houma, La. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Holly Christen and Elan Christen, both of Nashville; two grandsons, Nathan Christen of Murfreesboro and Dylan Christen of Houma; and by her sister, Donna Barnes and husband, Kenny, of Oakland, Ill. The funeral will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2004, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Bob Cantrell officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Dorothy Louise Capps, 74, of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at St. Mary's Health System in Knoxville. Born October 29, 1929, in Knoxville, she later moved to Oliver Springs. According to her family, Ms. Capps was a loving mother and grandmother, and was a Baptist. Her family said she was an avid bowler, enjoyed cooking for her family, and loved to crochet and work in her flowers. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Capps; two daughters, Rebecca Capps and Teresa Capps Sweat; her parents, Robert and Opal Fraker Hancock; two sisters, Blanche Kimborogh and Zella Brown; and by her brother, Cecil Hancock. Ms. Capps is survived by her daughter, Sonya Murphy and husband, Leslie, of Oliver Springs; her grandchildren, Christopher Thomas Murphy, Leslie Murphy and wife, Amanda, Dottie Samantha Ann Sweat Preshong and husband, Steven, Robert McCoy and James Capps, and Cheryl Fisher; her great-granddaughter, Katie Preshong; a special friend, Norma Neff, of Knoxville; and by three nieces, Jean Rose and husband, Frank, Joyce Ealy, and Brenda Chamberlain and husband, Don. Charles Kimblin, 51, a lifelong resident of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Dec. 8, 1952, in Oliver Springs, he was the son of James Eugene and Sandra Ann Kimblin of Harriman. Mr. Kimblin was a Baptist and attended Lawnvale Road Church of Christ. He had been employed by Martin Marietta for 15 years. His family said he enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially deer hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Foster Kimblin, and by a sister, Marilyn Kimblin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kimblin is survived by his son, Charles Joseph Kimblin, of Oliver Springs; his daughter, Ashley Elaine Kimblin, of Harriman; two grandchildren, Savannah Quilliams and Zoey Kimblin; his fiancee, Cheryl Mutter, of Harriman; two sisters, Catherine Mutter and husband, Tip, of Harriman, and Beverly Smith and husband, Scott, of Louisville; his brother, Eddie Joe "Jody" Kimblin, of Harriman; two nieces, Jessica Mutter and Cassie Mutter; two nephews, Jamie Gray and Joey Gray; and by several extended family members and special friends. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2004, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Darryl Nunn and the Rev. Robert Humphrey officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at Orchard View Cemetery in Oliver Springs. Gilbert Earl Woodall Sr., 70, of Farragut, a New Testament Christian and faithful, longtime member of Karns Church of Christ, peacefully and unexpectedly drew his last breath on the Lord's day, died March 7, 2004, at Fort Sanders NHC. Gilbert had been employed at Lockheed-Martin, ORNL X-10 for 43 years, retiring in 1997 as a process supervisor, in addition to serving his church as a deacon and adult Bible teacher. Preceded in death by his scriptural of his youth wife, Glenda Mingle Woodall of Knoxville in 1972, and his foster mother, Aileen Ott Lowe, called "Bo," of Murfreesboro in 1988. Gilbert leaves to honor his memory and follow his example, his scriptural wife of 30 years, Brenda and eight children, including Dr. Gilbert Woodall and Sarah of Brentwood, Glen Woodall of Florida, Gregg Woodall and Sherrye of Knoxville, Dr. Gary Woodall and Donna, of Knoxville, Susan Woodall Aragon and Steve, of Kentucky, Melody Woodall Cline and Ben, of Knoxville, Tony Woodall of Knoxville, and Miracle Woodall Wesson and Peter of Whitwell. He leaves 10 grandchildren, Sage, Ally, Stephanie, Tiffany, Benjamin, Jonathan, Tyler, Heather, Haley and baby John Isaac; his brother, "Sonny" Robert and wife, Jean, of Murfreesboro; and his cousin and mentor, Thomas Dill of Murfreesboro. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Karns Church of Christ, Beaver Ridge Road, Karns, with Edwin Jones, minister, officiating. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Central Time Saturday, March 13, at Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
