He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother & friend. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. He was of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. Preceded in death by parents, Hugh L Smith Sr. & Julie Muray Smith, wife, Dorothy Smith, brothers, Olof & John D. Smith & sisters, Ocie Wood & Leona Duncan. Born July 6, 1925 in Campbell County. Survivors: son, Dennis & wife Barbara Smith of Plainfield, Ill; daughter, Debbie & husband Ron Lane of Lebanon; brother, Conda "Dawton" of Clinton; sisters, Ruby, Almeda & Reva Smith of Clinton; 3 grandchildren; 3 great granddaughters; several nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, March 4, 2004 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with Rev. Jim McPherson & Rev. Mike Thompson officiating. The interment will be 11:00 am, Friday at Woodhaven Memorial Garden.
