    2. >From the Knoxville News Sentinel 5 Mar 2004 NELSON, DEAN - age 65, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at his residence. Dean was born in 1938 in Long Beach, California. He graduated from High School in 1965 from Chula Vista High School in California. He joined the Air Force in 1958. He served in South East Asia in 1967/1968 during the Vietnam Conflict. He and his bride, of 43 1/2 years, Lorraine Nelson were stationed in Texas, Wyoming, California, New Mexico, Florida, Maryland, Germany, Illinois & finally the Pentagon in Washington D.C. where Dean was the Department of Defense Liaison Officer to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. They retired from the Air Force in 1985, after giving 27 years to the Air Force. After a short stay in Western New York at a place called Model City, which is North of Niagara Falls, they moved to Oak Ridge in 1987. Dean was the Chief Engineer for PEER Consultants in Oak Ridge until now. He was the best and most loving husband & father a family could ever want. Survivors: wife, Lorraine Nelson of Clinton; sons, David & wife Reva of Albuquerque, NM, Mike & wife Bonnie of Oliver Springs; brother, Rodney Nelson of California; faithful companion, Lady. The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00 pm, Saturday, March 6, 2004 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with a memorial service following in the Chapel with Robert Nine officiating. The burial will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in La Jolla, California at a later date. The family has requested donations be made on his behalf to the University of Wyoming, Air Force Memorial Fund or the University of Cal at Berkley.
