LONG, DONALD L. - age 59 of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away March 23, 2004, following a short but courageous battle with cancer. He retired in 2002 as the Plant Manager of Boeing Oak Ridge after a 36 year career with the company. Prior to that he was with the Boeing Company in Seattle as the Director of Operations and Director of Manufacturing for the 767/747 divisions at the Everett Plant. He was raised on a farm in Lamar, Co. and never forgot his connection to the earth and to the values of being raised in that environment. Don was an outgoing individual who was generous with his friendship in his professional as well as his personal life. He faced challenges directly and decisively however difficult the situation. He had unconditional love for his family and friends. After retirement his major interest was riding his Harley-Davidson, his dream machine, and he was able to have some memorable rides with close friends and biking buddies. Don was never afraid to do the things that he loved and pursue his dreams. And most of them came true!! He loved to laugh and share good times. He will be missed by those who were lucky enough to have called him husband, brother, uncle and friend. Don was preceded in death by: his daughter and only child, Lisa; his parents, Herbert and Stella Long; parents-in-law, Tom and Joyce Brantley. ROBERTS, MABEL ELIZABETH McCOMB GLEAVES - 96, of Jellico, TN, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Beech Tree Manor, Jellico. She was born Sept. 16, 1907 to Henry Barret McComb and Mabel Stuart McComb. She graduated from Jelllico High School, attended Hollins College in Virginia and graduated from the University of Tennessee where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She taught English and French at Jellico High School for over thirty years and was honored as 1992 Alumni Award Recipient at "Mabel Roberts Day". She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Jellico. Preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Harvey Gleaves and Harvey Roberts; sisters, Dorothy McComb Finley, Helen McComb Bealle and Jane McComb Cooper; brothers, Jeffries McComb and Billy McComb. She is survived by step-daughter, Vivien Roberts Bell; step-granddaughters, Judith Bell Clark and Nancy Bell Rockey; nieces, Annie Finley Arrington, Bette Finley Purdy, Mary Stuart McComb Neely and Susan Palmer Bayless; nephews, James Bealle and Dr. Robert Palmer; sister-in-law, Mary Love McComb; several great nieces and nephews. Judy was a charter member of Fairview Baptist Church, and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. Dedicated to family and helping others, she enriched many lives in her role as a foster parent and children's advocate. Mrs. Bolden was born April 16, 1927 in Anderson County. She was a lifelong resident of this area. Mae was a member of Community Baptist Church of Oliver Springs and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Bolden; by her parents, Frank Pride and Sarah Patterson Pride; by a brother, William Pride and by two sisters, Frankie Woods and Mattie Holland. Survivors: Mrs. Bolden is survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins and many special friends. Born in Sevierville, TN on November 12, 1914 to parents Charlie and Byrd Duggan Sutton. The devoted wife of the late Orton James Howard and loving mother of six daughters who survive her. Joan, Janet, Jewel, Jane, Joyce, and Jennifer; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and by 2 sisters.The funeral service will be held at Glenwood Baptist Church on Monday, 3-29-2004, 11 AM with Dr. Mark Walton officiating. MONCIER, LARRY "MOOSE" - age 69, of Oliver Springs, passed away Friday, March 26, 2004 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born June 5, 1934 in Jackson, Tennessee. He was a Mason and a member of The Lords Church. He retired from Martin Marietta with over 38 years of service. He had worked at both the Y-12 plant and the K- 25 plant as a Machinist Supervisor. He was past President of the Oliver Springs Jaycees. The last 19 years of Moose's life has been dedicated to his wonderful grandchildren whom he loved very much. Mr. Moncier was an avid Big Orange fan. He loved going to the U.T. games as long as his health permitted. He enjoyed his time with their many friends there at U.T. He is preceded in death by his son, Stephen Moncier; and his father, Lewis M. Moncier. Survivors: wife of 50 yearsJoyce Hays Moncier of Oliver Springs; son David Moncier & wife, Vickie of Oliver Springs; daughterCindy Plunk & husband, David of Knoxville; mother Hazel M.
