    2. >From The Oak Ridger 31 Mar 2004 Myrtle Franklin Compton, 89, formerly of Kingsport, Norman Douglas Farrow, 61, of Oliver Springs, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Myrtle Franklin Compton, 89, formerly of Kingsport, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at the home of her daughter Sharon "Shay" Compton in Claxton. Born June 15, 1914, in Scott County in Virginia, she was the daughter of O.A. and Callie Mae Franklin. According to her family, Mrs. Compton was a homemaker, a wonderful mother and a committed Christian. She was a former member of Lynn Garden Baptist Church and a present member of First Baptist Church in Morristown. Her husband, Charles I. Compton, and three brothers, also died earlier. In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Compton is survived by two daughters, Louise Woods and husband, Lennis, of Morristown, and Carolyn McConnell and husband, Bill, of Knoxville; her son, Norman Compton and wife, Martha, of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Margaret Moretz, of Kingsport; a brother, J.K. Franklin, of Johnson City; and by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Valeria Nemes and her family for their excellent care for the last two years. The funeral be at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004, in the chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in Kingsport with the Rev. Dr. Fred Garmon and the Rev. Archie Fendley officiating. Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, Va. John Compton, Chris McConnell, Scott McConnell, Lennis Woods, Bill McConnell and Norman Compton will serve as active pallbearers. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Myrtle Compton Memorial Fund, Heritage Fellowship Church, 121 N. Illinois Ave., Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Norman Douglas Farrow, 61, of Oliver Springs, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born May 1, 1942, in Birmingham, Ala., he was the son of Louise Jennings Farrow, now deceased, and Ellis Daniel Farrow of Birmingham. Mr. Farrow graduated from Oregon State University. He served with the U.S. Army National Guard and was employed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he was a senior research technologist. Mr. Farrow was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for eight years and then a member of Central Baptist Church for the past 18 years. According to his family, Mr. Farrow wholeheartedly applied his energy to his personal relationship with Jesus Christ, loving his family and faithfully serving his employer. His brother, Ed E. Farrow, and his son, Michael Douglas Farrow, also died earlier. His son died in 1981. In addition to his father, Mr. Farrow is survived by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Teresa Mitcham Farrow; two sons, Brian Norman Farrow of Oliver Springs and Nathan Douglas Farrow, a student at Tennessee Technological University; and by his daughter, Teresa Leigh Barron and husband, David Michael, of Clinton. He is also survived by two brothers, Rick Farrow and wife, Kay, of Atlanta, Ga., and Larry Farrow and wife, Sherry, of Birmingham; his sister, Jerry Waller and husband, Ronnie, of Locust Grove, Ga.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Betty Mitcham, of Duluth, Ga.; two brothers-in-law, Joe Mitcham and wife, Rhonda, of Welches, Ore., and John Mitcham and wife, Roby, of Beaverton, Ore.; his sister-in-law, Barbara Farrow, of Nashville; two grandchildren, Abigail Mikala Barron and Clifford Michael Barron. The funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bobby Mullins officiating. A graveside service will be Saturday, April 3, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Birmingham. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Central Baptist Church, Ministry Needs, 130 Providence Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Central Baptist Church.
