BART, JR. - age 100 of Wartburg, WILDE, GERALD GENE (JERRY) - age 61, of Newport, WOODARD, ROSELYN - age 85, of Merrillville, Indiana (formerly of Jacksboro, Tn.) |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| CURTIS, WILLIAM RIDINGS - age 87 of Oak Ridge, Anderson County, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on the 14th day of March, 2004. Curt, the son of Doc James Ridings and Celia Goins, was born in Ramey, Tennessee on April 22, 1916. He attended grade school in Egan and Coal Creek (Lake City). He was one of 8 children who were: Virgil, Boyd, Laura Smith-Leach, Lois Ridings Walden, Claude, Beaties Hill-Devor, and un-named brother who died at birth. He was a life long member of the Egan Baptist Church where he, at the age of 10, was baptized in a creek behind the church, the same creek his mother Celia washed their clothes. He attended the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Oak Ridge. As a very young boy, Curt worked a short time for Blue Diamond Coal Company in Egan, removing the coal pillars that supported the mine chambers. He worked in his fathers business crushing rock that was used for the roads in Lake City. He opened the first Special Delivery Mail Service in Oak Ridge. He then worked in Clinton, Tennessee at the Clinton Hosiery Mill for whom he also played softball. Curt was an avid sports enthusiast, participating in baseball, softball, bowling, and golf programs through out Anderson County. Curt, for many years, operated a furniture moving company named Ridings Transfer. Curt worked in quality control and retired from Y-12 at the age of 64 after 28 years of service. He was a Mason and member of the Clinton Lodge 376 (since 1956) Clinton, Tennessee. He was survived by: his first wife of 49 years, Irene Foust Ridings; daughter, Connie Jean Ridings; son, Mickey J. Ridings (Teresa); grandchildren, John G. Ridings, M. Rhett Ridings; and step grandchildren, LeeAnna J. and Brooke N. Henry; great grandchildren, Emily Kate and Henry Matthew Ridings. He was also survived by: his second wife of over 10 years, Lois Stallions and family. Services will be held 2:00 Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Ransom officiating. Burial will follow at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens on Edgework Hwy, Claxton, Tennessee. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 16, 2004, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. (POPPY) - age 84 of Jacksboro, TN. formerly of Knoxville died at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at St Mary's Medical Center. He was a member of Lake City Church of Christ. He retired from Standard Knitting Mill after 40 years of service. Preceded in death by: daughter, Beverly Jean Glenn; father and mother William and Delia Lindsey Glenn; sister, Burnette Morie; brothers, Harry, Gene and Andy. Survivors: wife, Myrtle Elizabeth Beeler Glenn, Jacksboro; son, Larry Wayne Glenn, Jacksboro; son and daughter in law, Darryl Allen & Cathy Glenn, Falls of Rough, KY, grandchildren; Leslie Ann & Lauren Elizabeth Glenn; sister, Lottie Davis; brother in law, Muriel Miller; nephews, Jack & Gary Glenn; niece, Sonya Weber and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Chapel with Tim Mefford and Mark Muse officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:00 noon on Wednesday at Stevens Mortuary to go in procession to Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Maynardville for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service and interment. KAONOHI, DAVID L. - 64 of Oliver Springs died on March 12, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center. Mr. Kaonohi was currently working as a correctional officer with Anderson County Sheriff's Department and was a veteran during Vietnam, retiring as Chief Petty Officer with the US Navy. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary on Tuesday, 7 PM with Chaplain Dan Shultz officiating. The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to the Salvation Army, 327 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Receiving of friends will be Tuesday evening from 6 - 7 PM at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge. SEXTON, MR. BART, JR. - age 100 of Wartburg, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2004. He was a life long resident of Morgan County and owner of Bart's Trading Post in Lancing, TN for more than thirty years. On August 4, 2003, his 100th birthday celebration was held at the Life Care Center of Morgan County. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Bart and Mary Sexton; son, J.B. Sexton; and infant daughter, Debra Kay Sexton; two brothers and three sisters: Sam and Louis Sexton, Josephine Love, Ida Byrd, and Lenora Armstrong. He is survived by: his wife of sixty-eight years, Edna Mae Sexton; sons, Billy Joe, Ralph Eugene, Thomas Wayne, Tinsley Barton Sexton, all of Wartburg, and John Paul Sexton of Hitchcock Texas; daughters, Mary Sue Whetstone of Chattanooga and Betty Lou Francisco of San Diego, CA; sisters, Rachel Clark and Gertrude Cox, both of Knoxville; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. he family will receive friends Tuesday, March 16th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. officiating. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 17th at 11:00 a.m. in the Wartburg City Cemetery WILDE, GERALD GENE (JERRY) - age 61, of Newport, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2004, at his home after an extended illness. He grew up in Oak Ridge and graduated in 1961 from Oak Ridge High School and was a member of Central Baptist Church. Jerry was a surveyor for 31 years and later became a real estate agent in Newport. He was a Past President of the Dead Pigeon River Council and the Newport Chamber of Commerce and a lifetime member of the Newport Rescue Squad. Jerry was the son of Andrew Gene Wilde (deceased) and Alma O'Dell Wilde of Oak Ridge. In addition to his mother, Jerry is survived by: 1 daughter, Kristy Wilde,of Newport; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Nathan and Pam Wilde,of Newport, Matthew and Tammy Wilde of Parrotsville; 6 grandchildren, Dakota Wilde, Cory Wilde, Cody Wilde, Summer Wilde,all of Newport, Kassaundra Wilde and Samantha Wilde of Parrotsville; his former wife and friend Barbara Ledford Wilde of Newport. He is also survived by: a brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Jane Wilde of Karns; 2 sisters, Diane Wilde, of Lebanon, Tn and Robin Wilde Spencer, of Knoxville; 2 uncles Stanley Wilde and Wendell Wilde of Newport; 1 Aunt, Ferne Ford, all of Newport; 2 nephews, Kenneth Wilde of Knoxville, Johnny Wilde of Oak Ridge; 2 nieces, Melissa Spencer and Natalie Spencer of Knoxville. The Family will received friends at Manes Funeral Home in Newport on Monday, March 15, 2004, from 5 to 8 PM and the funeral will follow at 8:00PM. Graveside services will be at Inman Cemetery in Newport on Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at 1:00PM. WOODARD, ROSELYN - age 85, of Merrillville, Indiana (formerly of Jacksboro, Tn.) passed away Saturday, March 13, 2004, Roselyn is a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksboro. She was also member of Senior Bowling League. She was preceded in death by ; her parents, 5 brothers, 1 sister and granddaughter, Laura Breeden, in 1990. Roselyn is survived by her beloved family: Husband of 64 years, Howard, of Indiana; 2 daughters, Dolores (Charles) Montgomery of Arizona, Charlene (Benny) Breeden of Indiana; son, Wayne (Debbie) Woodard of Michigan; 9 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren; sister, Athalie Wilson of Ohio and many other loving family members. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 16th from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with funeral service to follow at 2PM in the chapel. Interment will follow at the Vasper Cemetery.
