BEALS, DONNA MARIE RAETZ - age 77 of Knoxville, completed her journey on Sept. 3, 2007 at the home of her son David and his wife Donna in Toano, VA. Donna worked for many years as an RN, retiring from Knoxville Baptist Hospital. She enjoyed volunteering for Interfaith Clinic and assisting those in need. As a founding member of Grace Lutheran Church, she made many life-long friends, cooked unnumbered church suppers, supported Boy Scout Troop 144, and sang in the choir. As a member of Knoxville Ascension Episcopal Church she enjoyed her church family, sang in the choir, and supported the music program. In recent years she participated in the YMCA senior water aerobics and cherished her many thoughtful and caring friends of the "Swim Team". Donna was a star basketball player for the State High School championship team from Hydro Oklahoma in 1948. As an ardent supporter of the Tennessee Lady Vols, she was confidant that the games will be broadcast in Heaven. Donna is preceded in! death by her husband of over 50 years, Dr. Daniel F. Beals. Duckett was an attorney who received his graduate and undergraduate degrees from UCLA. He was an honorably discharged veteran who served in the Korean War. Duckett was born in Mitchell, South Dakota, and lived most of his life in Los Angeles, California. He moved to Knoxville to be near his sons Randall and Bradley; his daughters-in-law Maryellen Duckett and Laura Carrington Duckett; and his granddaughters Katharine Duckett, Mary Duckett, Cassidy Duckett, and Caitlyn Little. DYER, MARGARET JEAN "MOM & MAMAW" - age 78 of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007 at the St. Mary's Residential Hospice center after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Mrs. Dyer was a long time member of Inskip Baptist Church and a faithful viewer of Wallace Memorial's TV ministry. She is survived by: her loving husband of 61 years, Hillyard "Bud" Dyer; two sons, Steve Dyer and wife Pam of Dalton, GA, Alan Dyer and wife Doris of Clinton. Preceded and reunited in death with: her daughter, Brenda Dyer Bull; her parents, Albert and Grace Davis and her four brothers, Wilburn, Roy, Glenn and Gordon Davis. Joe was born July 14, 1920 and raised in Oliver Springs, TN. He attended Robertsville schools in Oak Ridge where he graduated in 1939. He worked in the trucking industry for 45 years before retiring in 1976. His favorite pastimes were farming and gardening on his small Karns farm. He also enjoyed hunting with his friends in South Dakota and Virginia. One of his present favorite pastimes was to enjoy daily breakfast and fellowship with his many friends at the local Karns Hardees. Joe was a Christian and attended Grace Baptist Church until his illness kept him from attending regularly. He was also a member of the Charles H. McKinney Lodge# 433 in Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Bessie Freels, along with many brothers and sisters. She was a long-time resident of Norris, TN where her late husband "Bill" Grieve worked as a TVA Forester for 38 years. Born in Mont Alto, PA in 1916, Geraldine was a consummate homemaker who focused her life around her family and friends. She was very active in her church, the Norris Religious Fellowship, as well as many other civic organizations in Norris. In her later years, her participation in the Red Hat Society gave her much joy and laughter. A talented vocalist (having had voice training early in her life), she sang with a Sweet Adelines' group in Norris and was frequently a soloist with the Fellowship Church choir. She and her husband were very active with the Friendship Force of Knoxville where they traveled the world together. An accomplished bridge player, she also enjoyed cooking, entertaining, sewing, gardening, and music. She was preceded in death by her husband and her yo! ungest son, Cary. Peggy became a well-known handler and breeder of dogs, especially Maltese, Shi-tzus and poodles. After a debilitating accident, Peggy was forced to give up handling. After her first husband's death, she gave up breeding and moved south to find nicer weather, choosing Knoxville in 1993. In 1997 she married Dr. Henry Kratz, a retired professor of German at the University of Tennessee.
