BROWN, STANLEY PORTER, JR. - age 83 of Knoxville, a loving husband and father, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 25, 2007 after an extensive illness. He was born in Richmond, VA, a descendant among the first families of Virginia. He was a Christian and member of St. John's Episcopal Cathedral where he served as Sunday school teacher and head usher for many years. In earlier years, he had served as an acolyte at St. James Episcopal Church and as an Elder and Chairman of the Christian Education Board at First Presbyterian Church, all in Knoxville. Stanley graduated from Old Knoxville High School, attended the University of Tennessee and was a veteran of World War II. For years he worked as an insurance broker through McClamroch Insurance Co. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Stanley P. Brown, Sr. and Stella Swann Brown and his grandson, Stanley Porter Brown IV. HOLLO, DONALD A. - 72, passed away Saturday, September 22, at home surrounded by his loving family following a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born October 15, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio, Don was the son of the late August Hollo and Susan Huszti Hollo. Don graduated from Case Western Reserve with a degree in engineering, served in the U.S. Air Force, and put his knowledge and expertise to work in marketing at IBM in a career he enjoyed for 34 years. Don was a loving, kind and gentle man who never met a stranger. He fought, loved and laughed to the very end and most recently celebrated the marriage of his son and treasured friend, Steve. Throughout his fight, his precious grandson Grayson, the son of his devoted daughter Kara and beloved son-in-law Len, was his pride and joy. Don was preceded in death by: his mother, father and brother. He leaves behind: his loving wife and best friend, Catherine (Rena); son, Steve and daughter-in-law Ruth; daughter, Kara and ! son-in-law Leonard Hess and their son Grayson who misses his 'DeeDee'.
