He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joann Brantley Bostic; parents, Cecil and Geneva Shepherd Bostic. He is survived by his wife, Deloris Compton Bostic of LaFollette; son, Ray Bostic of LaFollette; special son, Preston of the home; daughters, Lee Ann Alley of Clinton, Donna Fay Bostic of LaFollette; sister, Judy Smith of LaFollette; four grandchildren; two nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. in the Martin Wilson Chapel with the Rev. Roger Hatmaker officiating. Interment will follow in the Campbell Memorial Gardens. LaFollette Press Sept. 6, 2007 Carey Duane Burkholder, age 62 of Jacksboro passed away suddenly in a tractor accident on Aug. 28. He loved cars, building houses, and barns. His family was his life. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Burkholder. He is survived by his wife, Carol Burkholder of Jacksboro; son, Craig Burkholder of Springboro, OH; parents, Armin and Glenda (Sommer) Burkholder; brothers, Ray, Kenneth, and James Burkholder all of OH; sisters, Marie Coskey, Carol Haven, Laurel Crider of Wooster, OH, Charlene Comacho of Sarasota, FL; many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Dupuy, age 67, of LaFollette passed, away Sept. 1 at St. Mary's Hospice Medical Center, Knoxville. She was of the Church of God faith and attended the LaFollette Church of God. She is survived by her husband, Wesley E. Dupuy of LaFollette; children: Steve and wife Gina Dupuy of LaFollette, Rick and wife Kim Dupuy of Maryville, Lisa and husband Kurt Nase of Maryville: grandchildren: Nikki Nase of Maryville, Morgan Dupuy of Maryville; Olivia Dupuy of LaFollette, Sam Dupuy of Maryville : great-grandchild: Kade Keller of Maryville;brothers: Mitt Walden and wife Rochelle of Jacksboro, Larry Walden and wife Ann of Lenior City; sisters: Betty Donald of Maryville, Della Lambert of Atlanta; a host of nieces and nephews. LaFollette Press Sept. 6, 2007 Edna Ellison, age 85, of Jacksboro, passed away on the morning of Sept. 2 at her home. She was a member of Fordtown Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Callie and Lillie Smith Cooper; sisters, Viola Cooper, Vida McKinney, Della Brassfield and Thelma Cooper; brothers, Rev. Audra, Vasco, Albert and Glen Cooper. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Clyde Ellison; son and daughter in law, Keith and Cheryl Ellison; granddaughter, Brandi Ellison; brother, Warren G. Cooper, all of Jacksboro; sister, Nola Cole of Greenville, SC; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held September 4 at the Fordtown Baptist Church with the Rev. LaFollette Press Sept. 6, 2007 Bonnie Marie Lindsay Gross, age 87 of LaFollette gently left this life on Tuesday, August 28, to rejoin her loving husband of 65 years, Ulyss Gross. She was surrounded by her loving family when she peacefully died at home in Tampa, Fla. She was a member of the Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her delicious cakes, pies and cookies that brought smiles to the faces of so many. She will be dearly missed by those whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Hugh and Bertha Lindsay, beloved brother, Robert Lindsay and close cousin, Hudon Overbay. Survivors include her children, Ron Gross and wife, Pat of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Regina Braden and husband, Doug of LaFollette, Margaret King and husband, Carl of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Lindsay Gross, Mark Braden and wife, Tonya, Teresa Braden and Matthew Braden; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Agnes Gross; brother, Frank Lindsay and wife, Betty; sisters-in-law, Irene Lindsay and Louise Turney, all of LaFollette; 8 nieces and nephews although many more claimed her as "Aunt Bonnie". Funeral services are set for Friday at 8 p.m. at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church and will be officiated by her pastor, Mark Partin. Family and friends will meet Saturday 9:30 a.m. at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church and proceed to Bakers Forge Cemetery for graveside services and interment. Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday before services at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. She was born Feb. 5, 1947. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Harvey Ray King. She shared 63 wonderful years with the love of her life, Leo. They lived as one until his death in 1998. She was a supportive mother and grandmother. She will be remembered as a devoted, loving Christian woman. She was a faithful member of the LaFollette United Methodist Church since September 1948. Her life was filled with the fruit of the spirit by serving others. She was preceded in death by husband Leo; son, Leland; brothers, Z.A., J.C and Bill; sisters, Trula Slater and Jeanette Levine. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane; grandchildren, Jackie and Bob Spining, Susan and Jerry Cate; great grandchildren, Tyler and Aaron Cate, Wes, Nicole, Brendan, Matthew Ryan, and Joshua Spining; many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shannon and Rose Bolton Owens; sister, Jean Murray. He is survived by his wife, Anna O. He was a retired medical worker and a faithful member of New Horizon Baptist Church. He loved fishing; farming and raising show chickens and show ducks. He loved his pet dog Taco. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Ray Smith. He is survived by his wife, Diane Myer Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly Norman and husband, Anson of Jacksboro; son, Brian Ray Smith of South Rockwood, MI; mother, Mrs. Ruth Smith of LaFollette; sister, Mrs. Bonnie Ridings of Trenton, MI; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. at New Horizon Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Herron officiating. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. She was born Nov. 26, 1949 in Campbell County. She attended Covenant Life Church. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and she also loved her dogs. She was preceded in death by her father, Eldon Miracle; son, Earl Michael "Mike" Smith. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Earl Smith of Lake City; sons, Robert Lewis Smith of West, TN, James R.C. Smith of West, TN, Benjamin Eldon Smith of Clinton; mother, Edna Louise Miracle of Lake City; four granddaughters and one grandson. Funeral services were held Sept. 4 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tony McAfee officiating. Interment was in the Leach Cemetery.
