>From The Oak Ridger 26 Sep 2007 Felbert Turpin, age 93, a resident of Heiskell, Rollie H. Green, 80, of Oliver Springs, Felbert Turpin, age 93, a resident of Heiskell, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at his home. Mr. Turpin was born Aug. 25, 1914, in the Wheat Community of Roane County. He has lived in Heiskell for the past 62 years. He was a member of the Wheat Baptist Church. He was a retired heavy equipment operator who worked in the construction business. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Lee Turpin, his parents, Ephraim Turpin and Sallie Chavis Turpin, three sisters, Nancy Raby, Julia Roberts, and Lucy Campbell, and by three brothers, Elijah, Martin, and Jimmy Turpin. Mr. Turpin is survived by two daughters, Patsy Proffitt and husband, Tommy, of Heiskell, and Brenda Loy and husband, Rocky, of Maynardville; five sons, the Rev. A.L. Turpin and wife, Charlene, of Heiskell, Lee Roy Turpin and wife, Bertie, of Knoxville, Robbie Turpin of Heiskell, Billy Turpin and special friend Fran, of Heiskell, and Steve Turpin and wife, Kathy, of Corryton; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and by a host of nieces, nephews, special friends and extended family members. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. A.L. Turpin and Rev. Mark Large officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville.
