WRIGHT, DAVID - my darling husband. The bravest man I've ever known let go today, October 13, 2007 at 6:00 a.m. David never gave up or gave in to this horrible thing we call cancer. He never, ever showed self pity though the pain and suffering he endured was more than any person should or could have had to bear. He said that Jesus promised we would have suffering in our lives and our journey to God must include that. He has shown me and his son Jacob how to appreciate life and for that, we will forever be grateful. He always said that there were people in the world who were suffering much worse than he, just as Jesus did. One of his legacies was that he showed us through his own actions that it was our duty to reach out to anyone in need and to do it in the name of God. Jacob, I know without a doubt that you were the number one reason your dad fought his good fight and because of that, he was able to watch his little boy grow into a wonderful man who gave him immense pride. ! On his own, Jacob was saved and baptized the week before David's death and afterwards, David said that once again Jacob had shown him that every pain he ever felt had been worth experiencing. He has shown unconditional love to me and Jacob and taught us so much about bravery and perseverance. We're so fortunate to be able to look through Jacob's eyes and see his father. David was such a family man. He enjoyed his brothers and sisters so much: Nancy, Johnny, Linda, Jill, Kelly and Michael and especially all of their children. He always showed love and humor with every child he was around. Linda and David wanted to give special thanks to their employers, Brakebill Nursing Home and West Knox Utilities. Their tireless efforts to keep them secure gave them the ability to walk through this battle together and greater friends they could never have made. Preacher Ray and their church, Solway Baptist, have prayed vigorously as have every one that has come in contact with him. David ! had finally found peace and serenity after his final diagnosis! so his last month he talked with each and every person including the children about matters of the heart and gave us the opportunity of not having to regret the things left unsaid. He said that he couldn't even imagine the awesome place he was going to and was not or ever had been afraid. He said that his only prayer was that he could take with him our sadness. David will be missed by so, so many but each of us should remember what he said to each of us for years: Endeavor to Persevere. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 16 from 6-8 p.m. at Highland Memorial Funeral Home with a service to follow the visitation. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Lyons View Pike. Pallbearers will be Jacob Wright, Sawyer Reagan, Tony Gray, Scott Gray, Adam Wilson, Matt Rector and Charles Buffalo.
