Arrangements! by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage. www.rosemortuary.com MESSERLI, ESTELLE - beloved wife of Roy A Messerli and mother of their six children, of Knoxville and formally of Fairfield California, quietly and peacefully passed from this life into heaven October 8, 2007 following a brief illness while surrounded by her family. Estelle attended First Baptist Concord Church since moving to Knoxville. Estelle was known for her generous and giving heart, working with many organizations in the Fairfield area such as the Visually Impaired, Wheels and Walkers, and Meals On Wheels just to name a few. Estelle's passion to take care of others in need benefited many individuals during her 40 years in Fairfield and she was well known in the local extended care facilities for visiting, caring for and comforting others. This included witnessing to them about the simple gift of salvation through Jesus Christ her Savior. All one had to do was speak of a need and Estelle would somehow fill that need. One of her life's joys was garage sales where she of! ten found items to give to others. Her zest for life was displayed by a love of travel, family and friends and she recently traveled cross-country visiting relatives and friends. One of the high lights of this trip was visiting the grave of their son David on a day similar to the day of his burial when the rain stopped, the clouds parted, the sun beamed down and the birds sang, bringing forth the memory of David saying "boid", " boid," one of his favorite words. This brought a sense of comfort and closure for "a too short a life" in knowing that David would be waiting to greet her in heaven. She was a very open and friendly person who epitomized the phrase "I have never met a stranger". Often times she would come away from a first time meeting joyfully announcing " this is my friend". Estelle was preceded in death by her parents Lucy and Douglas Faulkner and son David Messerli. She is survived by: her husband, son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Helen Messerli of Knoxville; d! aughter, Beverly Blakeman; daughter and son in-law, Vickie and! Logan W illiams of Fairfield California; son, Billy Messerli of Oregon; and daughter, Lisa Edquist of El Cajon, California; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; special friends, Rose, Kathy plus many others. Her last request was that at least one of her five surviving children continues her legacy of helping and befriending others. Funeral service will be 7:30 P.M. Thursday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Rev. Steve Peek and Rev. Larry Boyles officiating. Family and friends will meet Friday at Tennessee Veterans' Cemetery for a 9:30 A.M. interment service.
