He came to Oak Ridge in 1 945 after serving for four years in the U.S. Army overseas during World War II. His military service included tours of duty in Africa and in Europe. He met his wife, Ethel Gladys Walker (Hill), of 61 years on a blind date after coming to Oak Ridge as part of the war effort. E.C. worked at the Y-12 Plant for 36 years as a Rigger and an Iron Worker. Everett remained in good physical health until a serious fall two weeks ago. He was a long time member of Glenwood Baptist Church.
