She was a long-time member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, where she had served as a deacon, was an active member of the Presbyterian Women of the Congregation, and served faithfully in many other capacities. OSCAR LELAND - age 99, resident of Maryville, TN, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, October 20, 1907, son of Wilmer Chace Gilmore (d.1909) and Mary Phoebe Darlington (d.1923). He was also preceded in death by: his three brothers, Chace and Creston of West Chester, PA, and Russell of Columbus, OH. In 1923, he graduated from high school in West Chester, PA. The Rev. Mr. Gilmore was also a graduate of Maryville College ('31), where he was a cheerleader and a member of the pre-ministerial club, and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary ('36). In his early years, Leland worked with his brother in a fruit and vegetable store and as a clerk in the grocery and wheelworks businesses. After his ordination, he served churches in Limestone and Sherrard, WV (1936-1940); Taos, NM (1940-1942); Frankfort, KY (1942-1951); Wheeling, WV (1951-1963); and Pineville, NC (1963-1966). The church in Taos was an unusual National Missions congregation including both Spanish and Anglo-American members. In Frankfort, the American Red Cross awarded him for World War II community service. His last position was in Maryville, TN, where he served as pastor of Highland Presbyterian Church and stated supply of Houston Memorial Presbyterian Church (1966-1973). He was also active on various committees and commissions of the Presbyteries. He is survived by: his wife of almost 69 years, Vera Wilson Gilmore, and six children: David (Elsie) of Baraboo, WI; Sylvia (Robert) Jefferies of Bloomington, IN; Charles (Thaya) of Orem, UT; Daniel (Sharon) of Marietta, GA; Donald (Ann) of Maryville, TN; and Stephen of Maryville, TN. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends. She was born on August 10, 1932 in Kentucky. She retired as an R.N. in 1956 to be a full time wife and mother. In addition to those roles, she was an artist, a poet, linguist, gardener, hiker, world traveler, bird watcher, dancer, chef, punster and baker extraordinaire'. Mrs. Harris was proceeded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert W. Harris, M.D., who was a partner in the Knoxville Anesthesia Group. Following graduation, with a Masters Degree from George Peabody College in Nashville, Mr. Pitt began his career as a very successful head football coach at Jo-Byrns High School in Robertson County, TN and the Joelton High School in Nashville, TN. A highlight of his career was an invitation for his Jo-Byrns squad to play in the first ever Little Bowl in Lawrenceburg against a Huntland High School team coached by Shirley Majors. Although ahead for most of the game, Coach Pitt's squad lost following a punt run back for a touchdown by Johnny Majors. Mr. Pitt was also a member of the Old Hickory, Tennessee Masonic Lodge. Dr. Pribor was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. He received his Ph.D. and M.D. at St. Louis University. Dr. Pribor was an active clinical pathologist for 50 years. He served as Director of Laboratories at Perth Amboy General Hospital in Perth Amboy, NJ. Thereafter, he founded and served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Center for Laboratory Medicine Inc., a publicly-listed reference laboratory based in Metuchen, NJ. For over twenty years, he served as Medical Director of Quest Diagnostics in Nashville, TN. For the last several years of his life, Dr. Pribor devoted himself to the practice of Age Management Medicine. He was an avid sailor, survived Hurricane Agnes during the famous 1972 Newport-Bermuda Yacht Race with son, Jeff, in crew, and a member of New York Yacht Club and St. Petersburg Yacht Club. SATTERFIELD, DILLARD - age 73 of Friendsville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 4, 2007, at Blount Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Alcoa. His testimony of faith was positive and touched many lives. He will always be remembered for his friendliness, kindness and giving heart for helping others. He retired from the City of Alcoa after 35 years of service. He began his career as a Police Officer serving 20 years and also served as Housing Inspector, Purchasing Agent and retired as Supervisor of Sanitation. He was born in Tellico Plains and moved to Alcoa at an early age. He graduated in 1953 from Alcoa High School. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 719 Alcoa. He was very active in the Alcoa Alumni Association and served as Program Chairman. Dillard was an avid horseman and loved working on his farm and also loved spending time with his family.
