I can assure you that the Stonecipher's that were in North Carolina were German. Prior to living in Wilkes County, they were in Rowan County and before that were part of the 3rd Germanna group in Culpepper and Madison County, Virginia. Eleanor Ellen Stonecipher was the daughter of Samuel Stinecipher and Phoebe Curtis; Samuel being the son of Revolutionary War soldier Joseph Marion Stonecipher. Joseph's documented ancestry goes back to a Johann Steinseiffer b. abt. 1580 in Oberschelden, Germany. I have several history's of the Stonecipher's and have researched them for years yet I have never seen a Stonecipher listed as being of English descent. Perhaps they just lived in England?
