    3. Actually, since Wilkes County is quite close to Tennessee, there are bunches of NC families that migrated. My HAMBYs and CROSSes did, and I suspect that some that are just designated "North Carolina" in my notes may have, also. My HOLTs are listed from Surry County, part of which became Wilkes County in 1777. I have seen the name STONECIPHER in English genealogy, too. Might be worth checking out, especially if you have the name of the English - American connection.
