WALLACE, SYLVIA JO WARD, 65, a resident of Coalfield, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the University Of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Mrs. Wallace was born March 23, 1942 in the Windrock Community of Anderson County. She has lived in Coalfield for 37 years. She retired from the Morgan County Health Department where she worked as a C.N.A. She had previously worked at Johnson Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Harriman. Mrs. Wallace is a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church and she served her country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war. She is preceded in death by her father, Howard H. Ward. She is survived by her husband, William C. Wallace, Jr. of Coalfield; mother, Clara Nell Roberson Ward of Coalfield; sons, Brian Keith Wallace of Long Island, Ny., William Randall Wallace and wife Darlene of the Mossy Grove Community and Richard Allan Wallace of Jacksonville, Fl.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Lonnie Ward and wife Sue of Oliver Springs and Thomas H. Ward and wife Janie Sue of Coalfield; sister, Nacola Norene "Midge" Crookshanks and husband Leon of West Virginia and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. The family received friends Monday, June 11, 2007 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Union Valley Baptist Church. Services followed at 7 pm in the church with Rev. Wayne Morgan officiating. He was preceded in death by parents, Virgil and Odie Lowe Hood. Mr. Hood is survived by his sister, Aline Glass of Foley, Al.; aunts, Gertrude Perry of Knoxville, Loudean Proffitt and Vada Lowe both of Harriman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. []Roane County News] --------- DILLON, MAURINE, was born March 3, 1915 in Lancing, and passed away peacefully on May 25, 2007. She was the last survivor of nine siblings, John, Otho, Alice, Maude, Mary, May, Violet and Elsie. Her parents were Isabel and John Dillon. Maurine was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Dr. George Fraser. Mrs. Fraser is survived by her children, their spouses and grandchildren; daughter, Sarah Larsen, her husband, Chris Larsen and their son, David Larsen of Tucson, Az.; son, Dan Fraser, his wife Julie and their daughter, Emilie, of Victoria British Columbia; and daughter, Katy Fraser and her husband, Bob Schanilec of Danville, Ca.; in addition to her loving sister-in-law Katherine Dillon, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Maurine was a resident of Tucson since 1949. Prior to that she obtained her Masters Degree and was a practicing nutritionist in New Orleans where she met and married George Fraser. A private memorial service is planned for the family. He was born in Castalia, Oh., to Charles and Velma Evans who both preceded him in death. Mr. Evans was a veteran of World War II, a licensed electrician, and with a BS degree in education, he taught for 39 years. He was a member of the Meister Memorial Seventh-day Adventist Church in Deer Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth R. Evans. Surviving him is his wife of 52 years, Bonnie N. Evans; daughters, Joahnna Evans Songer of Visalia, Ca., Karen Evans Howell of Ringgold, Jacquelyn Bryant of Jefferson, Ga.; son, Robert James Evans of Castalia, Oh; also several nieces and nephews and grandchildren. A celebration of the life of Robert Evans is being planned for the very near future. At this occasion, memories, pictures and thoughts will be on display or verbalized.
