Born in Roane County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Lee & Katherine Odom DeVaney. Leela was a graduate of Spring City High School where she helped organize the SCHS Alumni Association. Leela attended Maryville College and graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She taught school for several years before going to work at TVA Watts Bar as a statistician. Leela retired in 1973. She was a member of the Spring City United Methodist Church and the Felecia Sunday School Class. Leela was a charter member of the Spring City B.&P.W. GAMBILL, EVERETT FLOYD - 82, of Oak Ridge, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born July 14, 1925 in Mountain Grove, Missouri, the son of John Floyd Gambill and Mabel Horner Gambill. He received a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics from Drury College of Springfield, Missouri in 1949 and received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Alabama in 1954. Mr. Gambill served as head of the Technical Services Division for Union Carbide at Y-12 for several years with responsibility for managing Quality Control, Statistical Services, Radiation Safety, and Nuclear Materials Accountability. After that he served as the Quality Assurance Manager for the Energy Systems Organization which at that time included responsibilities at the three Oak Ridge sites and Paducah KY. He retired after thirty years in 1984. He was a long-time member of Oak Ridge Country Club and for years maintained a single digit golf handicap. He was! an accomplished bridge player, attaining Life Master rank with the American Contract Bridge League. He also enjoyed bowling in his earlier years. He enjoyed music, particularly swing, classical and jazz. In his later years, he was a popular resident of The Estates of Oak Ridge. Mr. Gambill was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe with the U. S. Army 97th Infantry Division, 386th regiment. After the war, he served in occupied Japan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 51 years, Sarah Martin Gambill, Brother, Thomas Sylvester Gambill and Sister, Louise Gambill Neathery.
