    2. >From The Oak Ridger 28 Aug 2007 Larry Joe Johnson, 54, a resident of Cleveland, Tenn., Jimmy Rodney Owens, age 41, a resident of Oliver Springs, Mrs. Dorothy Spellman, 86, of Oak Ridge, Larry Joe Johnson, 54, a resident of Cleveland, Tenn., for the past four years, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, in a local hospital. He was a professional truck driver for J&S Cartage for the past four years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his father Lester Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Karin Johnson of Cleveland; mother, Nola Johnson of Lake City, Tenn.; five children: Robyn Johnson of Denver, Colo., Justin McGonigal of Bella Vista, Ark., Karren Johnson of Baton Rouge, La., and Stacie Johnson and Cory Johnson, both of Cleveland; three grandchildren; three brothers: Terry Johnson of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Gary Johnson of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Jack Johnson of Lake City, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Ron Neugard officiating. A private interment will be conducted on Wednesday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. His family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Jimmy Rodney Owens, age 41, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at his home. Rodney was born April 24, 1966 in Oak Ridge. He is a lifelong resident of this area. Rodney worked as an electrician in the construction business. He was a member of the International Brotherhood Of Electrical Workers Local No. 760. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jimmie and Josie Bilbrey Hall, by his paternal grandparents, Willard and Lora Ruffner Owens, by aunts, Marie Dedmon, Mary East, and Johnnie Lomax, and by an uncle, Dicky Owens. He is survived by his parents, James and Pauline Hall Owens of Oliver Springs; sisters, Sheila Rimel and husband, George, of Oak Ridge; Sandra Housley and husband, Freeman, of Winchester, Tenn., Sherri Strickland and husband, Danny, of Oliver Springs, Jennifer Butler and husband, Randy, of Oliver Springs; nephews, Travas Rich, who was a special caregiver, Badih El-Charr, Eric Turner, Nathan and Chris Hughes; niece, Mandy Brown and husband, Derick; great-nephews, Tyler Brown and Elias El-Charr; great-nieces, Breanna Rich and Reliegh Brown. He is also survived by special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many special friends, including two childhood friends who were like brothers, Scott Ooten and Mike Swicegood, and another special friend, Bruce Kittrell. The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Will Gouge and Brother C.S. Harvey Jr. officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Dorothy Spellman, 86, of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at her residence. She was born March 5, 1921, in Bartlesville, Okla., to Thomas Joseph and Susanne McKenna Spellman, both now deceased. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Floyd Morris; a daughter, Linda Mae Morris; and a brother-in-law, William Klenk. She graduated from Manhasset High School in Manhasset, Long Island, N.Y., in 1940, and graduated from Stratmore in merchandising in 1942. She was employed at Lord and Taylor department store on 5th Avenue in New York. She was a housewife with three daughters in South Worcester, living on a farm, and was very active with Girl Scouts and 4-H. After this, she relocated back to Long Island, in Port Jefferson, and was employed at Cooper's (known as Cooper's Angels). In 1987, Mrs. Spellman moved to Rochester, N.Y., after her last grandchild was born. While there she worked for the Greece Historical Society. She continued to follow grandchildren, moving to Kingsport, Tenn., in 1989, where she was active in volunteer work at the Netherland Inn. From Kingsport, she moved to Mount Airy, Md., in 1993, where she was active in volunteer work at the senior center and Carroll County History Museum. In 1996, she moved to Oak Ridge, volunteering at the Children's Museum and the Oak Ridge Public Library. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a caring mother, a wonderful cook and seamstress, and an avid reader. She enjoyed gardening and was a good, loyal friend, corresponding with all friends. She was very community-minded, very sociable, and a consistent volunteer wherever she lived. She is survived by daughters, Mary Morris LaForgia and husband, George LaForgia, of Durham, N.C., and Eileen Susanne Musgrave and husband, Glenn, of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Margaret Mae Musgrave, Matthew Martin Musgrave, and Maureen Mary Musgrave; brother, Thomas Joseph Spellman Jr. and wife, Margaret, of St. James, Long Island, N.Y., nieces and nephews, Tommy and Courtney Spellman, Kevin and Katie Spellman, and Maura and Michael Kieran; and several grand nieces and nephews; sister, Susanne Klenk of Port Jefferson, N.Y.; and nephew, Peter and Jody Klenk. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest with her eldest daughter in Stanford, N.Y.
