SAMUEL RALPH - age 90 of Halls, passed away peacefully at his home with his family and friends. He was born January 19, 1917, to Samuel J. and Daisy DeLapp Cox in Knox County. He received Christ as his Savior at the age of eleven and devoted his life to the spreading of God's Word. He married Neva Severs on March 31, 1934, a union that lasted 73 years. During his early years, Ralph worked for T.V.A. on the construction of Cherokee and Norris Dams, worked on the "Secret City", Oak Ridge, and when duty called, served in the United States Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the 153rd Engineering Construction Battalion in postwar Japan. While working at Standard Knitting Mills, Rev. Cox was called to the Ministry in 1956. As an evangelist, he held revivals at well over 100 churches throughout East Tennessee and had a radio ministry at WKXV for nine years. He was the pastor of Milan Baptist Church, Maynardville for 25 years, as well as the pastor of several ! other churches in the area. Ralph was also a contractor for much of this period of time, building many fine homes, particularly in the Halls community. He was a mason , joining the Bright Hope Lodge in 1944, a total of 63 years. Rev. Cox was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law: Kathleen Delores and William Bennett, both parents, his stepmother, the former Florence Turner, brothers: Briscoe, Herbert, Jewel and Kenneth Cox and his sister: Annabelle Norris. He is survived by Neva Severs Cox, his wife and companion of over 73 years, his son: Richard Ralph Cox and wife: Karen, his brother: Idris Cox an his sisters: Della Coppock, Vivian Henderlight and Wilma Beeler and husband: Roy, all of Knoxville. He is also survived by four grandsons: Tony Bennett and wife: Denise of Dallas, Texas, Terry Bennett and wife: Lynn of Knoxville, Tim Bennett and wife: Melissa of Knoxville and Adam Cox of Knoxville. RHYNEHART, DAVID WARREN, SR., age 87 of Knoxville, crossed over Jordan to be with his Savior on Wednesday August 15, 2007 at 7:10 p.m. David, a Purple Heart recipient from WW II, was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He was a member of City View Baptist Church for 48 years, a Mason and Shriner for 22 years, Burlington Lodge #763 F&AM. He retired from House Hasson. David was born in Dandridge to Lawson and Ellie Strange Rhinehart, who preceded him in death. Also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Frankie Barnett and Veda Garrett. On August 15th, 2007 God gently reached down and took our beloved Teresa to be an Angel in Heaven as she was on Earth. Teresa was a person who concealed her tears but shared her smiles with everyone. She touched so many hearts with her loving and giving personality and she will be deeply missed.
