At the outbreak of WW II, she worked in an aircraft factory building B-25 bombers. She married N.D. Acree (USN) during that time, which resulted in four sons. They moved to Knoxville in the early 1950's for him to pursue a medical career. Dr. N.D. Acree died in March 1965 after a lengthy illness. She subsequently married Joe E. Lobertini in July 1969, and was a loving wife during their marriage of 38 years until her death. She was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church, a member of Beaver Brook Country Club for over 50 years, and a charter member of the Alliance for the Mentally Ill for over 15 years. She enjoyed her family, flowers, fishing, golf, and bridge. She was a lo! ving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had many friends and family, all who will miss her dearly. He was born in Savannah, Georgia on February 26, 1919 to Harry Campbell and Julia Catherine O'Hagan Rogers and was raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the grandson of Thomas Patrick O'Hagan, lighthouse keeper of the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse in Daytona Beach, Florida and the Amelia Island Light. This created a lifelong interest in and love for the ocean and he was a longtime member of the National Lighthouse Association. He loved being a soldier and serving his country. His Army career spanned 25 years with service in World War II and Korea and it took him and his family to Panama, Asia, Europe and throughout the United States. He was known and loved for his humor and was a gifted writer and illustrator. He had a magnificent imagination and creative ability and was never without a story for his children and grandchildren. He was a avid reader and student of history, especially the Civil Wa! r and was a member of the Civil War Roundtable and former president of the local Retired Officers Association. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and later Sacred Heart Cathedral. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harry and Dick. He was a member of the Church of the Good Samaritan. Mr. Wells was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and retired from Mine Safety Appliances Company after 18 years of service. A man of great character, his greatest asset was his love of family. He set a wonderful example for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, James M., Sr. and Ruby Wells and brother, Harold Wells. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Wells; son, James M. Wells III "Jim" and his wife Pamela Whitworth; daughter, Jennifer DePue Norman; grandchildren, Vince DePue and fianc�e Renee Allen, Michelle Surber and husband David Surber, Ryan DePue and fianc�e Karah Dorr, Brandy Wells, Kenzie Wells; great granddaughters, Devin Surber and Dylan Surber; great grandsons, Ethen Dorr and Parker Surber; sisters, Virg! inia Patterson and Colleen James, and a host of nieces and nephews. Interment services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 11am in the Lynnhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-6:30pm at the Church of the Good Samaritan with a memorial service to follow at 6:30pm with Rector Cal Calhoun.
