GARRETT, MRS. JUNE C. CROUCH - age 66, of Lancing, went home to be with the Lord on December 5, 2007 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was born October 17, 1941 to Steve and Lois Crouch. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She loved her family and church and many friends and especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Garrett is survived by husband of 46 years, Vernon Garrett; children, Douglas E. Garrett and wife Tammy of Joyner, Steven P. EDNA MARIE PHILLIPS age 93, of Wartburg, passed away, Wednesday, December 5, 2007, in the Life Care Center of Morgan County. She was born September 20, 1914 in Huntsville, Tn to the late Harrison and Bess Parker Phillips. She married Garnet Sanderson in 1934 and moved to Morgan County in 1935. She spent 14 years in Gobey and her remaining time in Wartburg. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Wartburg for 65 years serving the Lord daily with kindness to all she came in contact with. She also was a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star in Wartburg. She later demitted to the Petros Order. Mrs. Sanderson retired in 1980 from the Highland Telephone Cooperative in Sunbright, after 25 years of service as one of the cooperatives first four employees. She enjoyed her association with her life-long friends and relatives. She represents a generation that devoted her life to her faith, her family and her country. She was preceded in death by her husband: Garnet Sanderson; brother: Virgil Phillips; sisters: Edith Phillips and Wilda Eastham; nephew: Harold Dean Phillips; and grandson: Robert Dean. Mrs. Hembree was born July 28, 1905 in Coalfield. On the 29th day of December, 1929 she married Elmer Holmes Hembree and they moved to the Wheat Community in Roane County. Following the death of Mr. Hembree on October 25, 1942 she moved back to her beloved Coalfield into the home which was built by her late father where she lived until her death. She was a loving, compassionate mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. The greatest joy in her life was her family. In addition to her family she enjoyed worshiping, singing, raising chickens, and her garden, both vegetables and flowers. She was a charter member of the Coalfield Senior Citizens. She was also a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church however she faithfully attended Big Mountain Baptist Church. In addition to her late husband; Elmer Holmes Hembree, she was preceded in death by her parents; George Washington Estes and Annie Butler Estes, by a step-daughter; Ruth Wayne Cogdill, by a grandson; Donald Cogdill, by a sister; Reba Estes, by two brothers; Lawrence and Wiley Estes, by four son-in-laws, Harold D. Tinker, Ralph Bailey, Albert and Alvin Cogdill and by a grandson-in-law; Tom Benitez. She is survived by four daughters, Rochelle Bailey of Coalfield, Faye Jean Hembree of Coalfield, Georgeanna Koivu and her husband Ray who was considered a special son-in-law of Harriman, and Barbara Tinker of Coalfield; she also has a step-daughter, Evelyn Cogdill of Michigan. She has seven grandchildren; Dwayne Ashley and wife Susan of Coalfield, Sandy Koivu of Chattanooga, Jennifer Koivu of Soddy Daisy, Dawn Riley and husband Bryan, Dion Tinker and wife DeeDee, Heather Patterson and husband Jerry, and Holly;Tinker all of Coalfield; her step-grandchildren are Wilma Garbarez and husband Lewis, Jeanne Benitez, Wayne Cogdill and Charles "Chuck" Cogdill all of Michigan. She has 15 great-grandchildren, Amanda, Abigail, Brynne, Tavyne, Taylor, Tara, Heath, Peyton, Ashton, Aleah, Scarlett, Summer, Savannah, Canaan, and Beth. She has one great-great-grandchild, Catelyn. The family expresses their gratitude to the Life Care Center of Morgan County for the exceptional care given to Mrs. Hembree.
