HOSKINS, SAMUEL DENNIS, 62, of Rickman, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at his home. He was a member of the Episcopal Church and attended Oak Hill United Methodist Church. As a retired principal of Oakdale School in Morgan County he was a member of TEA, NEA, and MCEA in Morgan County. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army during Viet Nam where he earned multiple Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie S. and Joanne Huff Hoskins. Mr. Hoskins is survived by his wife, Jeanette Carr Hoskins of Rickman; sons, John Hoskins and wife Sabrina of Cookeville; brother, William Hoskins and wife Iffath of New York City, NY; God-son, Dru Miller of Rockwood; and a multitude of loving in-laws, special school family members, church family and special friends, Kim Mason and Nancy Miller. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007 at 8 p.m. at Oak Hill United Methodist Church in Rickman. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Speck Funeral Home, Livingston is in charge of arrangements. [Roane County News] ---------- BYRD, HOYL, 72, of Lancing, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2007.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay Byrd and Roxie Duncan Byrd; brothers, John Henry, Winford, Mack and James Luther Byrd; and sister, Marie Josephine Clark. Mr. Byrd is survived by his son, Steve Byrd of Roundlake Beach, Ill.; daughter, Cindy Jonyja of Mundelein, Ill.; step-daughter, Sherry Belcher of Mundelein, Ill.; grandchildren, Paul Jr., Stephanie, Tonya and Kailey; brother, Sam Byrd of Lancing and Marshall Byrd of Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.
