    2. ADKINSON, LUCY ETHEL WISSINGER - age 102, died October 26, 2007 in St. Louis, MO. She was born November 12, 1904 to parents, Eli B. Wissinger and Mary Hunt Wissinger on a farm in Cambria County Western Pennsylvania and had eight brothers and sisters. Lucy was a long time resident of Knoxville and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a member of Bearden United Methodist and Colonial Heights United Methodist churches in Knoxville and Central Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga. Preceded in death by husband, Frank V. Adkinson. Survived by her sister, Leona Wissinger; son, Robert Adkinson; daughter and son in law, Jeanruie and David Neil; and two granddaughters. BRANAM, BOBBIE WELCH - 96 years old of Knoxville, TN passed away at 5:43 A.M. Saturday at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. She was a long time member of Marble City Baptist Church. Along with good friend Mildred Dockery, she taught Sunday School in the Children's Department for many years. She also was a member of the Beloved Bunch and the Friendship Club of Marble City. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and seven sisters. She is survived by beloved husband of 61 years, Robert K. DOROTHY IRENE - age 80, of Waynesboro, GA, entered into eternal rest at Trinity Hospital, Augusta, GA on Nov. 2, 2007 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her beloved husband Mr. Frank L. Browne. She was predeceased by her parents, Marion and Marie Davis Griffin. Mrs. Browne was a native of East St. Louis, Illinois. Mrs. Browne had worked as bookkeeper with the Women's Exchange and been a faithful volunteer of the Meals on Wheels program. CAGLE, CALLIE MARIE - age 92 passed away Saturday, November 3, 2007, 7 days before her 93rd birthday. She died peacefully at her home where she lived for the past 60 years. She was a lifelong Christian and is a member of the Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church. She was a person who loved the outdoors and enjoyed tending her small farm, her garden and especially her special flower plantings every year. She lovingly cared for her lawn and garden and enjoyed the Christmas season when she decorated her home, which drew many compliments from neighbors and all who passed by. She was fond of her collection angels, inside decorations and antique collections. An avid outdoorsman from his youth, he loved to hunt and fish, especially in the Mississippi River bottoms and on the Reelfoot Lake. Near the end of World War II, he served as a Merchant Seaman during 1945-1946. He completed high school at Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy in Seymour, where he met and married Betty Ruth Lopasser, his wife of 59 years, in 1948. Until recent years, he was an active Mason and was extremely proud of being named a Knight of the York Cross of Honor. He was an active member of Hess Lodge No. 93 in Dyersburg, TN from 1962 until he moved to East Tennessee in 1986, and served as Past Master of Masonic Lodge No. 93. He was also a member of Grace Baptist Church in Seymour, TN, and served in the past as a deacon at First Baptist Church Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Madge Tansil Cotham, and a grandson, Victoir Lieurance. Survivors: wife, Betty! He was born on March 28, 1922 and grew up in the Bethel Valley Community of Anderson County the present site of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He was an active member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church, Employee of ORNL for twenty seven years, and usher at all University of Tennessee sports and arena events following his retirement from ORNL in 1987. Dewey was an original volunteer for Merrill's Marauders in World War II serving the United States Army in Burma (C-B-1) from 1942-1945 where he was wounded in the "Battle of "Walawburn" on March 6, 1944. He received the Purple Heart medal of honor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Odus and Myrtle Keith Diggs; sister Naomi D. Luttrell and brother Frank Diggs. She passed away in her home of natural causes having never lost the independence that she so treasured. Born in St. Louis Missouri and living parts of her life in Mississippi and Florida, Ms. Hopper spent the last 21 years of her life as a resident of East Knoxville. Ms. Hopper was preceded in death by both parents, her beloved brother and his wife. Ms. Hopper was a deeply spiritual individual who left each of her remaining family members with much more than money or physical things. She bestowed each of her children and their families with an unwavering faith in God, a commitment to family and an unyielding strength in the face of challenge.
