LEE, ORION CHANTLER - born March 22, 1912, went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2007 at Park West Hospital. Mr. Lee was a long time member of Robertsville Baptist Church. He was the son of Edward and Amanda Hamby Lee of Monroe County, TN. In the 1930's he worked for the U.S. Forest Service and also worked as a U.S. mail carrier in Polk County, TN. In 1934, he married Bonnie Glenn Garren Lee from Polk County who was his wife for 71 years. Their only daughter, Bobbie Neal Lee Collier, was born in 1937 in Etowah. They came to Oak Ridge in 1944 from Lupton City, TN where he began working at the Y-12 Plant. He retired from Y-12 in 1977 where he was an Outside Machinist. Mr. Lee was a member of Faith Lodge #756 F&AM in Oak Ridge where he served as Past Master in 1996. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Mr. Lee had over 60 years of service in the Masons of Tennessee. Mr. Lee has also served as Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star #390 in Oak Ridge in 1959. Mr. Lee is preceded in death by: his father, mother, wife and daughter. He is also preceded in death by: his brothers, Lester and Ross Lee; his sister, Marie Green of Oak Ridge; brothers-in-law, Charlie Green and Edward Rymer, also of Oak Ridge. CONNIE - died of congestive heart failure on May 22, 2007 at the age of 85. She was born in Knoxville, TN and a resident of Johnson City for the past 50+ years. Dr. Mynatt is preceded in death by: her husband, William E. Axamethy; brother, Eugene Mynatt; niece, Lisa Heaton; sister, Vivian Mynatt Coward and parents, Mr. And Mrs. E.E. Mynatt. Dr. Mynatt was a well known educator having graduated from Carson-Newman College with honors earning a B.S. degree in Mathematics and Physical Education; University of Tennessee with honors and M.S. in Physical Education and Health; and was an honor graduate of the University of Michigan with a Ph.D. in Education and Physical Education. Scholarships in Physical Education and Recreation are named in her honor at Carson-Newman College, Milligan College and East Tennessee State University. Dr. Mynatt was inducted into the first ETSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1996. She was the first woman to coach a men's tennis team in the South and recently had a tennis court named in her honor at Milligan College. Dr. Mynatt was the first woman to be elected president of the Tennessee College Physical Education Association and the first woman faculty member of ETSU to obtain a Ph.D. At ETSU she began a women's physical education majors club, Phi Eta Tau in addition to being faculty advisor for Delta Zeta Sorority. Her award are numerous and became a benchmark in education. Raised from birth as a Baptist she grew up in Central Baptist Church of Fountain City where she accepted Christ as her Savior and later moved her membership to Central Baptist Church in Johnson City where she was an active member of the Esther Class. Living as a Christian she touched many students and colleagues' lives in different ways as well through church and civic committees and activities. A memorial service conducted by Dr. Ronald Murray and Dr, Janice Shelton will be held Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Central Baptist Church, 300 North Roan Street, Johnson City, TN 37601.
