He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul A. & Edith E. Anderson Neumann of Duluth, MN, wife Mary Margaret LeMay Neumann; wife, Sue Clark Twyford Neumann; and brother-in-law, Richard Ario of Duluth, MN. He leaves a sister, Patricia Ario of Duluth, MN; sons, Paul G. & wife, Martha of Jacksboro, David & wife, Linda of Lake City, Mark & wife, Phyllis of Limestone, TN; a daughter, Linda & husband, Dwight Walker of Clinton; wife, Jean Carlson Neumann Peters of Heiskell and two step-daughters, Teresa & Sheila Twyford of Nashville. Mr. Neumann was born in Chisolm, MN and raised in Duluth, MN. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1940-41 and later attended the University of Minnesota, Duluth graduating Cum Laude in 1949, Cornell Graduate School of Chemistry in 1950 and Vanderbilt Graduate School of Environmental Engineering in 1975. Following graduate school he worked at Corning Glass Works in New York, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge as a research chemist and was a professor of chemical engineering at Nashville State Technical Institute. Mr. Neumann was a member of several professional chemical engineering associations and is a registered professional engineer. Mr. Neumann served 4 years with the U.S. Army Air Force, 8th Air Force, European Theater during World War II. As a top-turret gunner, radio operator and radar bombardier he flew 18 B-17 combat missions earning numerous medals, including the Purple Heart. Mr. Neumann served as Mayor of the City of Norris, Norris City Council and on the Anderson County Industrial Development Board. Other interests include membership in Trout Unlimited, Smoky Mountain Boy Scout Council, life memberships in the NRA, VFW and American Legion. He was a staunch supporter of Republican politics and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was the youngest of five children and known as "little Nat". He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. Mr. Rees retired from TVA after 39 years of service. Mrs. Tinley was born May 10, 1947 in Oak Ridge, TN to the late Richard E. Caudle, Jr. and Wilma C. Caudle. She attended Carson-Newman College and graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She earned a Masters Degree from Georgia Southern College. Mrs. Tinley retired after serving for 31 years as an educator. She taught at Waynesboro High School, Hephzibah Junior High School, Blakeney Elementary School, and Burke County High School. For a number of years she served as Department Chairperson of the Language Arts Program at Burke County High. She was selected as Star Teacher twice and named Teacher of the Year as well as being honored as Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Tinley was a member of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church where she served for many years in the Youth Department as Teacher, Director, and Youth Council Member. She also served as Counselor or Chaperone on numerous mission trips, retreats, and summer camps.
