Hi all, For those of you interested in the Shadrack JONES family of Morgan Co.--particularly Josiah JONES (TN, 28 AUG 1838 -19 MAR 1910). I have been trying to research his wife Catherine for years. I had gone far enough and thought I'd come up with her identity but hired a genealogist to confirm, which he did. Despite the marriage records being destroyed in a fire, we are fairly certain from other evidence that Josiah JONES married Catherine JONES, daughter of Robert JONES of Virginia (b. abt 1793) and Margaret (Marget) of Tennesse (b. abt 1804). This family is found in the Morgan Co. census of 1850. Children of Robert JONES and Margaret in 1850 were: Sarah JONES - TN, abt 1828 Robert JONES - TN, abt 1832 John JONES - TN, abt 1834 James JONES - TN abt 1835 Katharine (Catherine) JONES- TN, 17 APR 1839 - 30 DEC 1909 (Morgan Co.) Martha JONES - TN, abt 1840 Ann JONES - TN, abt 1842 Margaret JONES - TN, abt 1844 Nancy JONES - TN, abt 1846 Elizabeth JONES - TN abt 1848 If anyone has any information regarding this family, I'd sure like to see it. Also, Josiah and Catherine JONES' daughter and granddaughter clearly have Indian features. Family stories say Cherokee. Lisa, Can't help you directly but was wondering in your Jones wanderings if you might have found an Ambrose Jones supposed father of William Hazen Jones. William (1821-1912) is buried in the Sunbright Cemetery. William is thought to have been born in Kingston, Roane Co, TN. William lived in Warburg (Montgomery) and Sunbright. ...tim west...
