    2. >From The Oak Ridger 17 Jul 2007 Rosalie Thedford Cross, of Oak Ridge, Edgar Dean Ledford, 60, of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn. Orland C. Smitherman, 85, of Oak Ridge, Rosalie Thedford Cross, of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007, at her home. Mrs. Cross was born in Spring City, Tenn., to Walter and Lady Pearl Armstrong Holloway, now deceased. She moved to Oak Ridge in the early 1940s and was of the Methodist faith. A member of the Oak Ridge Woman's Club, Bridge Club, and Lady of the Elks, she loved gardening, wild flowers, traveling, especially going on cruises, and spending time with her beloved cat Precious. Preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Thedford, who was retired from Atomic Energy Commission, now the Department of Energy; her second husband, Charles W. Cross, a longtime dentist in Oak Ridge; daughter, Patti Rose Mary Thedford; and one brother and two sisters. Mrs. Cross is survived by her son, Gary Thedford of Oak Ridge; Connie Thedford Flood and husband, Steve, of Oak Ridge; Joan Thedford Jaynes of Oak Ridge; one sister, Lillie Mae Foster and husband, Tommy, of Paducah, Ky.; grandchildren, Liane Wickham Carullo, Denise Wickham, and Summer Rose Jaynes; and great-grandchildren, Arielle Rose Kennedy and Genna Elizabeth Carullo. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Martin Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Emory Valley Center, in memory of Rosalie Thedford Cross, mother of Gary Cross, an Emory Valley client. Edgar Dean Ledford, 60, of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., passed away Saturday, July 14, 2007, at his home. He grew up in Anderson County in the Marlow Community, graduating from Clinton High School. He was a Vietnam veteran who served his country. He worked for TVA and was planning his retirement next month. He was the son of the Rev. Earl Grady Ledford and Grace Prudence Ledford, who proceed him in death. Also proceeding him in death are sisters, Joyce Ledford, Evelyn Wooten, and Juanita Eller. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sheila Jones Ledford of Soddy-Daisy; daughter, Jedena Ledford of the home, stepsons, Rodney Anderson, and Stephen Anderson and wife, Alison, and granddaughter Kayla Anderson, all of Soddy-Daisy. His brothers are E. G. Ledford Jr. and wife, Ellen, of Gastonia, N.C.; James W. Ledford and wife, Rose, of Clinton, Tenn.; and Mack Ledford and wife, Louetta, of Carrollton, Ga. Sisters are Rheba Helms, of Belmont, N.C.; Ollie Groner, of Cramerton, N.C.; JoAn Hawkins, of Stanley, N.C. He also had many nephews and nieces. He was a member of Dutch Valley Baptist Church, Clinton, Tenn. Williamson & Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the funeral home. The funeral will be Wednesday at noon and interment will be in the Chattanooga National Veterans Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tenn. Dean was a loving and hard-working man. He loved his family and friends and will be sadly missed. Orland C. Smitherman, 85, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, July 16, 2007, at his home.
