    3. MEYERS, MRS. MARY D., 84, of Monroe, MI, passed away Tuesday, Oct.5, 2010, at the Lutheran Home where she had lived the last 5 years. Mary was born December 20, 1925, in Deer Lodge, TN to the late Charlie and Mable (Phillips) Phillips. Mary married Charles Queteen Meyers on January 27, 1947 in Ringold, GA. They moved to Monroe in 1953. He preceded her in death, March 12, 2001 in Crossville, TN, where they had retired. Sadly, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Meyers. In addition to her husband and granddaughter, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Geneva and a brother Charles Phillips. Mary is survived by her children and their families. Tony (Elva) Meyers of Monroe, MI, Bill Jack Meyers of Clarkrange, TN, Elaine (Jerry) Hill of The Villages, FL, and James (Janice) Meyers of Washington, PA. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren include Angela (Nate) Koizumi and Kai & Kiana of Vacaville CA; Christie (David) Lussier and Jordyn of Monroe, MI; Michael Meyers of Clarkrange, TN; Paul (Anja) Payne and Hailey & McKenna of Monroe MI; Senior Chief Petty Officer Chad (Angie) Payne and Noah & Zachary stationed in HI; Aren Payne of Texas; Lance Corporal Thomas King stationed in TX; Joel & Hannah Meyers of Washington, PA. She is also survived by a sister, Lulla (Bill) Bullard of Fairfield Glades, TN, a brother, Lewis (Faye) Phillips and a sister-in-law, Junie Phillips of Deer Lodge, TN. Mary attended Sunbright HS in Sunbright, TN. She was a varsity basketball star and a 1st place trophy winner in basketball at Senior Olympics. Mary’s first job, one she was very proud of, was working as a security guard for the U.S. Defense Department in Oak Ridge,TN, at a plant that built atomic bombs during WWII . She loved babysitting grandchildren, gardening and sewing. She worked for Boes Interior Decorators and La- Z- Boy in Monroe. Mary loved church and was a member of Stewart Rd Church of God and their Willing Workers Ladies group. The family will receive friends Friday, October 8, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg TN. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M. Graveside service will Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the Mt Hope Cemetery, Deer Lodge, TN. [Schubert Funeral Home] ---------------------------- DAVIS, BOBBIE SKILES, 92, entered the golden gates on October 6, 2010, from complications following a stroke. Bobbie was born on September 8, 1918. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Arthur and Matilda Russell Jones; by her sister, Georgia Wilson; by her husband of 15 years, James Leslie Skiles, and infant son, James Leslie Skiles II, and later by her second husband of 53 years, Calvin W. Davis. She was a faithful wife, nurturing mother, loving grandmother, and doting great-grandmother. Left to cherish her memories are loving and devoted family: Daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Jackie Jackson, and Doralene and Darwin Davis; sons and daughters-in-law Benny and Shelby Skiles, and Curtis and Millie Skiles; grandchildren, Gregg Skiles, Dennis Davis and wife Holly, Jay Jackson, Deidre Holt and husband Joel, Joni Keith and husband John, and Laurie Skiles; great-grandchildren, Cameron Holt, Bryson Keith, and Emily Davis; best friends, Jack and Lois Davis and family, and many special relatives, friends, and neighbors. Bobbie was the oldest member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church by age and by years of membership. She was graciously honored during the morning service on May 8, 2005, and was presented a commemorative plaque in recognition of 75 years of membership. She was retired from Proffitt's Department Store and was a member of the Executive Club in recognition of her outstanding service to the company. Gardening was Mrs. Bobbie's passion. She grew beautiful flowers, as well as a large variety of fruits and vegetables. She Shared generously from her bountiful crops and was diligent in canning and freezing for the winter food supply. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed quilting and needlework. Bobbie loved outdoor activities: camping, picnics, cook-outs at the lake, with occasional rides on the pontoon boat; CHS football, flea markets and yard sales, riding her lawn mower and running the garden tiller. She adored family gatherings, especially birthdays and holidays. Bobbie was a kind and gentle lady who was loved by all who knew her. Her legacy of faith, wisdom, and love will go on for generations to come, and these are only a few of the priceless gifts she gave through the beauty of her life. She will truly be missed and forever loved. The family extends a special thanks to the staff and nurses of 5th floor west of Methodist Medical Center, as well as the staff and nurses of the Life Care Center of Morgan County. The family invites you to join them and help celebrate her wonderful life. Visitation will be Saturday evening, October 9, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Todd Hardin and Pastor James Foster officiating. Interment will be on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Estes Cemetery in Coalfield.
