    3. MASSENGILL, JAMES PAUL, age 90, a resident of Coalfield, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at his home. Mr. Massengill was born on January 1, 1920 in Scott County. He has lived in Coalfield since 1949.At the age of 22 he entered into the United States Army and served his country in WWII in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes as an expert carbine marksman. While serving he received several decorations and citations including the EAME Theater Ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars. Before his retirement he was employed as a steel worker in construction. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Gilbert Massengill and Cartia Price Massengill, by a son, Don Massengill, and by brothers; J.C. Daugherty and David Massengill. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois Kirkland Massengill of Coalfield, by a son, James Owen Massengill and wife, Sharon of Harriman, by grandchildren, Chris Massengill and wife, Alisha of Kingston, and Wendy Daniel of Cincinnati, and by 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers; Sammie Daugherty and wife, Laverne of Kansas City, Missouri and Randall Daugherty and wife Maxine of Joplin, Missouri. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 28, 2010 between the hours of 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM at Sharp Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at the Estes Cemetery in Coalfield with full military honors.Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. I dfon't have any info on parents, but back in 1990's James and his wife wold stop in Oliver Springs at the mother of my wife Joyce, pick up her grocery shopping list and bring by what she needed..
