    3. MCGLOTHIN, IVADELL NEWCOMB - age 95, a resident of Coalfield, passed away Monday, September, 6, 2010 at her home. Mrs. McGlothin was born on the 23rd day of April, 1915 in Roane County. Following the marriage to her late husband, Robert Glen McGlothin, she moved to Chevrolet, KY and later moved back to Coalfield where she has continued to live. After her move back to Tennessee she continued her education and earned a teaching degree from the University Of Tennessee. She began her teaching career in 1956 at the Coalfield School where she taught for over 25 years. She was a member of the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association. Following her retirement she continued to be active and serve her beloved Coalfield Community. She was instrumental in the organization and development of the Coalfield Senior Citizens Center where she is a charter member. In 2008 she was honored for her many accomplishments and great contributions to Coalfield by being named the grand marshal of the Coalfield parade. She was a faithful Christian and a devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She served the church as a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible school teacher, worked in the Women's Missionary Union and sang in the church choir. She was also a 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #364. In addition to her late husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Jim McGlothin; by a infant daughter, Selma Jewell McGlothin; by her parents, Michael Randolph Newcomb and Margaret Lucinda Davis Newcomb and by brothers and sisters. Mrs. McGlothin is survived by a daughter, Millie Skiles and husband, Curtis of Coalfield; by four grandchildren; Jeff McGlothin and wife Suzanne of Pittsburg, PA, Jan Stewart and husband, Steve of Kingston, Joni Keith and husband, John of Coalfield and Laurie Skiles of Nashville. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Glen and Gillian McGlothin of Pittsburg, PA and Bryson Keith of Coalfield. The family expresses their gratitude to special friends and caregivers, Flossie Browning, Ruth Lackey and the McMahan family. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 9, 2010 between the hours of 12:00 and 2:00 pm at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor James Foster and Pastor Mack Smith officiating. Burial and graveside services will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
