I wanted to briefly respond to a recent response to a query I posted. I refer to the response below: > Dad and I about 2 months ago went down to Nydeck ( named for the Schneck an Nydeck family) just below the Carpenter Cemetery and found the old Dam that as probably built by Rev. Timothy Carpenter. Of course there is no house or emnants. He died around 1855 and is buried in Trinity Cemetery in McMinn Co. The dam has been strngthened with cement but is still there. We were there ust after a flood that put the water 25 feet high out of it's banks. Will go ack and get some pictures this summer. It is a swimming hole for the locals. The Reverend Timothy Carpenter died in 1853 and is buried at Tranquility Methodist Church Cemetery in McMinn County, Tennessee. Anyone interested in this gentleman may wish to refer to a 1995 article I published in THE MAYFLOWER QUARTERLY, entitled "Carpenter Descendants of John Howland in Tennessee." I appreciated the forwarded response. Charles Ward CMW12635@aol.com
