BURGESS, MR. SYLVESTER, age 81 of the Petros Joyner Community, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 3rd, 2011. Mr. Burgess was retired from Oak Ridge Hardwoods. He loved to mow grass and work outside, ride his motorcycle, and sitting at Jones Grocery. He was preceded in death by his mom and dad: Ethel and Eliza Crowe; sister, Exie Keathley; brother, J.D. Crowe; aunt, Teba Burgess; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Goddard. He is survived by his sisters: Nancy Goddard of Petros-Joyner, Betty Duncan and husband, Louis of Chattanooga, Reba Woods of Oak Ridge, Thelma Bruce of Wartburg, and Roberta Hall of the Stevens Community; special friends: Tommy and Sue Jones and Tim Hearne; and by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 5th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Bro. Ben Graham officiating.
