    3. April 25-30 is designated History Week in Fentress County, TN with a day of Roundup on Saturday the 30th. There will be activities throughout the week related to the theme The Civil War in Fentress County in commemoration of the Sesquicentennial Celebration of the beginning of the Civil War. Tuesday and Wednesday there will be a demonstration and display of the Secret Quilt Code used in the mid-eighteen hundreds to assist runaway slaves. Activities will take place in the York Elementary School Library on Tuesday and Wednesday during the day for students. Beginning at 6:00 on Tuesday evening the public is invited to attend. Sessions will last about 1-1/2 hours. Starting at 1 pm on Wednesday at the Court house, 3 historical buildings that are over 100 years old each will be identified with historic markers. A brief history of each building will be given at the ceremony. A Seminar on "Finding Your Civil War Ancestors" will occur at 1 pm Thursday in the conference room of the library. On Friday evening at 6 pm a workshop will be held at the Latter Day Saints Church on using York's Fentress County database with opportunity to see if your ancestors are in the database. Throughout the week Monday - Friday, the "Ye Ole Jail Museum" will be having an open house across from the courthouse. The Roundup on Saturday is from 9 am -3 pm, with about 10 author displays, three neighboring historical society displays, two visiting Civil War Veterans groups who will tell stories and explain weapons, show artifacts, etc., and 30-40 historical society Civil War related displays. Free lunch, drinks and snacks to registered attenders. We invite everyone to consider coming out to view displays, listen to demonstrations and stories, and talk Civil War with others present. This is our 21st year to have the Roundup, and it all just keeps getting better. Willie R. 3. I still don't find where Saturday's event will be happening.  Some is at the York Elem. school, some at the court house, some at the LDS church and some at the museum but Saturday's event has no place listed.  --- On Tue, 4/26/11, Julie Cromwell <jlcrmwll@gmail.com> wrote: From: Julie Cromwell <jlcrmwll@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [TNMORGAN] FENTRESS COUNTY HISTORY WEEK & ROUNDUP To: tnmorgan@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, April 26, 2011, 6:49 PM April 25-30 is designated History Week in Fentress County, TN with a day of Roundup on Saturday the 30th.
