    3. HELTON, BOBBY W., age 78, of Coalfield, passed away Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He worked at Roane Electric in Harriman and was a correctional officer at Brushy Mountain State Prison from 1983 to 2007, where he retired. He enjoyed playing golf. Mr. Helton was preceded in death by his daughter, Terri Rene Helton; his parents, I. W. and Sally Helton; a brother, Charlie Helton; and a sister, Jenny Helton Owens. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Arvana Russell Helton; one son, Robert Helton of Coalfield; brother, Don Helton of Georgia; two sisters, Mary Ellen Crowe of Coalfield, and Dottie Kelly of Georgia; and a host of loving family members, neighbors and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the Estes Cemetery in Coalfield. [The Oak Ridger] --------------------- JONES, KATHERINE IRENE 'KATY' age 74, a resident of Coalfield, passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at her home. Mrs. Jones was born Dec. 5, 1936, in the Wheat community of Roane County. She continued to live in Roane County until her move to Coalfield 35 years ago. Irene worked at French's Market in Oliver Springs as a bookkeeper and cashier before becoming a full-time caregiver to her husband, Roger. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who spent most of her time taking care of family. In addition to caring for family, she enjoyed feeding and bird watching and flower gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jackson King Rather and Elsie Hembree Rather; and by three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roger A. Jones; daughters, Debbie Jones Phillips and husband, Emmanuel, and Tammie Jones Edwards; grandchildren; Jacob, Zachary and Ethan Phillips, Melanie McKinney and husband, Ted, and Madalyn Edwards, all of Coalfield, and Crystal Cline and husband, Ryan, of Karns; and great-grandsons, Parker and Peyton McKinney. She is also survived by sisters, Ruth Stout of Midtown, and Shirley Goodman of Karns; a brother, Don Rather of Oliver Springs; and a host of special friends and extended family. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 1, 2011, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with family and pastor Mack Smith officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at Roane Memorial Gardens. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
