SEIBER, RONALD EDWARD, age 54, a resident of Knoxville and formerly of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, August 25, 2010 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Mr. Seiber was born on the 20th day of January, 1956 in Oliver Springs. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. POWERS, MRS. LALA JEAN MATHIS, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday August 16, 2010. She was born into the Christian home of Aaron and Dorothy Mathis. She accepted Christ as her Savior when she was 4 years old and continued in strong faith throughout her life. She was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church in Oakdale. Through faith and grace she battled Multiple Sclerosis over 40 years. She was a resident of Morgan County Life Care since 1986. While there she was an inspiration to others and loved by all. Before entering Life Care she sang with the Mathis family, enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, canning and music. She opened her home to many with great love, where there was always food and laughter. [Schubert Funeral Home] ------------- COKER, LAMAR RAY, age 58, a resident of Knoxville and formerly of Coalfield, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010, at his home. He was born October 5, 1951 in Oliver Springs, and was the first set of triplets to be born in this area. He lived in the Coal Hill community until 1959. He moved to Columbus, Georgia and joined the Marine Corps at the age of eighteen, moving back to this area in 1996. Ray was a member of the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable medical discharge in 1984 after fourteen years of service. Mr. Coker received several medals, ribbons, citations, and commendations. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cecil Gann Coker; sisters, Ann Carroll and Betty Coker; and by brothers, Daniel and Donnie Coker. Mr. Coker is survived by a daughter, Christy Rae Duarte of Knoxville, by a grandson, Aiden Ray Duarte of Knoxville, by brothers, David Coker, Joe Coker, and Harvey Bagwell Jr. all of Columbus, GA, and by sisters, Ethel Weaver of Phoenix City, Alabama, Brenda Collins and Linda Coker both of Columbus, GA, and Susie Coker of Atlanta, GA. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 15, 2010 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 P.M at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow in the funeral home chapel at 8:00 P.M. with Chaplain Phil Gross officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held at 9:30 A.M. Monday, August 16, 2010 at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, with full military honors. Sharp Funeral Home of Oliver Springs is in charge of arrangements.
