Obituary for Henry "Gene" Massengale Henry Eugene "Gene" Massengale, age 73, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Integra Specialty Hospital in Muncie while surrounded by his family. He was born August 8, 1937 in Robbins, Tennessee to the late Virgil and Emma Lee (Cecil) Massengale. He retired from Chrysler Corporation and had also worked in the oil fields in Oklahoma. An avid NASCAR fan, Henry was also a fan of his son John, who races at Mt. Lawn Speedway. A member of the UAW Local #371, he was also a member of the American Legion for 24 years, the Moose Lodge, and was a member of the Rose City CB Club and REACT where was known as "Pink Panther" or "Pinkin". He served in the United States Air Force, National Guard, Army and the Reserves. He attended Ivy Tech in Muncie where he studied electronics. Survivors include his wife, Emma L.
