HI Becky, I was born in Scott CO (Elgin). I am the granddaughter of Mary Elzada McCart, the 2nd great-granddaughter of Adeline Elizabeth Hamby and the 3rd great-granddaughter of Hannah Peters. The other McCartt Cemetery is where my relatives are buried. Our library here in Clarksville, TN has the microfilm with copies of original death records, so I go print them out. I like to gather copies of original proof. I am only 45 minutes away from the State Archives. I met Lee Gallery on the internet and really liked her. I did not know she had written the book "A Goodly Heritage" until I saw it in the State Archves. I started emailing her copies of the original proof that she doesn't have in her book. She wanted to update her book, so I suggested she scan it with OCR and write it to a CD. That way she can constantly update it. Being the generous and kind person she is, she gave me a copy of her book on CD. This book is about the Hambys. Have you ever talked to Gloria Davis. She is my double first cousin and works more on the McCartts then I do. Does my line cross yours? He held 5 patents. Beyond his corporate experience, William Manly was active in numerous organizations and the recipient of several honorary awards. He served as a Director of Boston Edison (now NStar), Key Energy Group, Covenant Healthcare and the Community Reuse Organization of East Tennessee (CROET). Professional affiliations include: President (1972- 73) of the American Society for Metals (ASM), service on the President's Metal Properties Council from 1978-82, service on several Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) committees, and Fellow of the American Nuclear Society. Deb Sorry... The Wartburg Library in the genealogy room. They have the original newspapers starting in 1916 and also have most of them on microfilm. Of course most of the original copies are kinda fragile.. I do have a couple of books I put together with obits from these papers. Morgan County Newspaper Obituaries, Vol. I, 1916-1934; and Vol II, 1935-1940. Obituaries way back then were not like today's obits. Most of the time there was only a small notation in the community columns telling about a death and precious little other information. Such as " Mrs. "So & So" passed away yesterday". So, it was hunt and search the newspaper, column by column, to even find the notice.Vol. I contains several murders and other 'interesting' events and is interesting reading besides the information from obituaries. I verified some of the dates from the cemetery book and some of the deaths are not even recorded in the cemetery book. Possibly because no stone or marker was ever placed. I have still have a few copies that would make nice Christmas gifts.
