Hi Linda, To add to Cathy's post, in my HALL data I have Rebecca MOSIER as the wife of the elder Elisha HALL. Elisha (Sr.) born 01 January 1799 Wilkes Co., NC, d. 04 March 1878 Morgan Co., TN was buried at Elizabeth Cemetery, Morgan Co., TN. I am sorry, but I have no other info on Rebecca. I had no other info on the Samuel HALL family being in SC - so it is very interesting that the younger Elisha has SC as his place of birth. BTW, I was told the notes on the outside of the pension envelopes at the Wartburg Library were made by Mr. Lee Cross. I don't know if he was responsible for obtaining those records, but they are a wonderful resources. HTH! Georgeanne
PROUD WIFE OF TENNESSEE ARMY NATIONAL GUARD SGT. CURRENTLY ON TRAIN UP FOR DEPLOYMENT FOR KOSOVO. Hi Linda, I have the pension application of the Elisha Hall that you are talking about. He then married Rebecca Scott, a widow, on 2 Dec 1888.She died at Wealdridge,TN on Jan 22, 1914. On the outside of his envelope it states that he was the son of Elisha and Rebecca Hall. This Elisha is the son of Samuel and Letisha Hendrix Hall. There were only on the 1880 Morgan Co. census listed in the following way: HALL,Elisha age 53 Martha age 47 John age 17 Martha age 13 Samuel E. age 12 Ganeswell age 9 Nancy P. age 6 All children listed as having been born in TN. Let me know if you need anything else. Cathy
Mornin' Folks To those of you who have sent info and pictures to be posted to the page........I will get them posted as soon as things slow down a bit here and I can come up for air.....(death in family, upcoming holidays, well, you know how busy we can get sometimes.) Please bear with me and thanks so much for your contributions and your patience. Happy Holidays Julie
I believe that Luke Hall, brother to twins Elisha and Elijah Hall, also had sons named Elisha and Elijah, and one or both may have served in the Union Army, as did Luke's son, David. I've never been able to completely straighten out the same names used in all generations of those Halls, but Luke was the son of Samuel, and Luke's son, David, had a son, Luke who was my g-grandfather. I was able to prove the line through David's military and pension record.
Hi Linda, I have an acquaintance who was a Cox or Crouch one and married a Mosier. They are from the Jamestown area, but lived in Morgan County. I have access to the LDS files and I know her family would be in there somewhere. I just looked it up in the Morgan County Heritage book. She was a Cox and they lived in the Glades area. Her father was John Estel Cox, son of Noah Agbert. In the Lewis-Hines family, it mentions a Rebecca who married Elisha Hall. I'm sure you have already checked here, but I didn't know if you could get into LDS FamilySearch. If you don't, I'll be glad to check it for you. There is one right here in Coalfield on private property. If you'll email me off-list, I'll give you the gentleman's name. Since it is on private property, I don't feel I can give the name out publicly. ============================================================ From: RUNNING33@aol.com Date: 2003/12/05 Fri AM 11:17:41 EST To: TNMORGAN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNMORGAN] covered bridges Hi all, I am new to this site and I have a question. Does anyone know if there are any "covered bridges" in Morgan County, Tennessee? One web site indicates there are four (4) in other counties in East Tn, but none here. My son and I are planning to build one on property I own. I would be much obliged if anyone can share info regarding this subject. thanks, (If Ms. Mona reads this, please excuse my grammer) hugh ==== TNMORGAN Mailing List ==== Morgan County Homepage http://www.tngenweb.org/morgan/ ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 ============================================================ Judy Solis
Hi Jill, Would you happen to know which Pemberton built the covered bridge? My maternal G. Grandmother was a Pemberton. Dorothy Young Campbell
I don't know if this 'counts' or not, but the Pemberton's built a covered bridge on their property [the old Doc Jones home]. They built it at the entrance of their driveway.
